This is all true, but Ford has been tipped to re-enter Le Mans with this car and use a V6 EcoBoost to race. They are creating a new history as we speak, and I support what they are doing. Keep in mind that I would of loved to see a V8 but this engine also makes sense. The road car will have more in common with the track car.

And as I mentioned earlier, I wouldn't be surprised if a V8 version popped up later on. There will be upgrades to this car as the years go on no doubt.

Absolutely gorgeous, I love the centre mounted twin exhausts. It's a good time to be a Ford fan with the performance cars being developed in the US at the moment, we just need them delivered here.

Reminds me of the hype around the Jag XJ220 twin turbo V6. Sales flop killed that off.....

You know this because of your extensive knowledge and experience with the new Ford GT and the European cars? By the way which of the Euro cars will spank the Ford GT?

Actually the Jag XJ220 failed because Jag promised a V12 but delivered a V6TT, they then priced it too high for a time when the world went into recession. The car itself performed.

Old sound

Understand the historical sentiment, but times change and Ford need to adapt to those changes. I'd agree if they used the GT40 name but with the use of the GT nameplate I think they can get away with using any engine configuration. Many supercars are making changes to their car configurations due to various reasons, no different for Ford.

As long as this beast can perform on and off the track I don't see any issue with what engine it uses. I am just grateful Ford are building it.

The official name for the original car was the Ford GT. The GT40 moniker was unofficial but widely used.
Ford couldn't buy back the GT40 trademark from Safir Engineering so there was no choice but to stay with Ford GT.

History aside, it's aesthetically pleasing and admittedly sounds very good for a six.
I'm looking forward to seeing what it's capable of.

If the previous GT supercar is a guide, this will likely get spanked by the Euros as the previous one was priced out of its market once it hit Europe. It will probably sit just ahead of the Viper and ZR1 Corvette in the US. I don't believe the old GT had any carbon fibre though so they may have aimed higher with this one.

I would've liked to see a V8 too but all logical signs point to the TTV6 with what they're racing in Daytona prototypes.

Jag may have been hit by a recession like all super car makers but what remains more iconic and desirable a XJ220 or a F40 or a McLaren. The XJ220's racing success was also mixed.

As for which Euro Car, seriously? with where the euro manufacturers are currently it will need to be a real performer.

Again a great looking car lets hope they pick their market accordingly. Le Mans class winner or contender.

Well I'm glad it did not cop the stupid looking "whale shark" grill that every new ford seems to have.

Nice looking rig!

The future certainly is small displacement turbo / S/C, so good to see Ford moving in the right direction.

Everyone comparing this car to the last Ford GT need a reality check. Besides a few similar design features they are nothing alike. Ford is not a new contender in the supercar game, they've done it before and have enough talent to compete with the best. This is an entire generation or two ahead of the last GT.

No one is saying this will be the best supercar in the world, but I bet that it will be much better than a lot of the cars on offer in its category.

That is just an opinion as I have no facts to back that statement up.

Agreed, hence why I wish they broke a bit more ground with the design. Can't wait to see it race under an official ford banner.

So does the Porsche GT3, Ferrari 458, Lamborghini Hurracan, McLaren 650S, etc. Do you think any of these worry about the power of the Hellcat?
On a track where all of these are bred (including the Ford) the Hellcat powered cars will be no where.

This car is developed with Le Mans in mind. The V6 will be far more efficient than a V8 even with EcoBoost. Fuel efficiency is what will play a big part in that campaign as the new diesel engines have shown.

Love the car! Sounds fantastic at idle. I'm just sad we wont see such a car here in Australia and if we do, the private importers will charge over $500k like the last GT (which is fair enough when they have to do all the work, fabrication and compliance; not having a go at them).

This looks awesome! A twin turbo 5.2 or 5.0 would have been amazing. I'm sure it's pretty light and the TT V6 will be more than enough. The good thing is those who want to tune it could probably get very good power from it..similar to those who modify their R35's

If Ford had a smaller V8 they might have used it, like the McLaren V8's which are still only 3.8l. Porsche has their 3.8l boxer 6, but if that wasn't a boxer I don't think it would be a six.

Hellcat may have 700+ HP, however how many of those does it waste turning tyres to smoke?

I'm willing to bet that while this may have less power, it will actually use what it has to push the car forwards..

Oh, and it'll be able to handle a corner..

If the McLaren mp4-12c is anything to go by it makes 600hp and runs a 10.7.
The hellcat runs a 11.2 stock and a 10.8 with drag radials. Supercar 1 muscle 0

The Hellcat would be terrible at Le Mans, it would need a pretty fast fuel tanker to keep up and refill it every 10 minutes. If you had a fuel tanker that fast, you would also need a tanker for the tanker!
