Default 6 cylinder NA Drag war

Hey guys, what do you think about organising a drag day between us NA ford 6 cyl owners (SOHC and DOHC) and our fellow NA 6 cyl holden owners over on streetcommodores.com? Im thinking maybe sometime in June, after our AFF drag day.

Of course this event will not just be restricted to NAs, it would be good to have a few Turbos come along as im sure some of the V6 supercharged guys would love to come aswell.

Could you please cut & post street commodore time's here save me going throught the pain of signing up to view?

As for how quick I beleave that a Stock VZ SV6 vs a Stock BA XR6 both in Auto that the SV6 would about 2 or 3 tenths quicker over the quater as a general rule of thumb. :

some very quick and well setup cars. 98.5mph and a high 13 is very well setup and 1520kg aint all that light (i dont think these VN and VP's are as light as people make out) 98mph is around 340hp not bad for the ol v6 i didnt think there were many that quick.
WHICH IS GREAT would make for some good racing !

I am in.... Where, when???

I will bring the ute, show them how to turbo properly... Performance from factory...

Also, we each need to bring some penrite 25W70 for them
so thick they won't lose any on the strip and make us lose control, 25W70 is good for old junk motors..... :gren: :gren: :gren:

true, but their motors, unlike ours, have more than being around the block, so to speak...

Ahahahahaha, nice one Ben. Heathcote probably seems like the best venue to hold an event like this. Il post it up on the street commodores forum and see what they think about the idea.

Dont worry about it mate, we'll just cut a few banana peels and throw em in, that should thicken it up a bit aye? But then again....we don't want to be giving those commodores a secret HP enhancement at the same time.

Pretty sure a vz sv6 is supposed to be able to beat a ba, stock for stock.

But the New sv6 is definately slower.

One of my mates has a manual VZ SV6 and there is nothing in it between mine and his. From a standing start, the cars a so close it depends on the launch, if i dont launch as hard he wins, if he doesnt i win, if we both launch cleanly its neck and neck. From a roll mine was starting to pull away at the top of 2nd and into 3rd but i only had him by half a car length.

i think the extra engine capacity (torque) of the ba might have the upper hand, but a valid point that it must be designed to beat the ba na or holden just suck lol

No saracsm VZ SV6 190kw & lighter than a BA XR6 is suppose as a rule of thumb run 2 to 3 tenths quicker quaters than the XR. Both being stock etc im sure if you did a couple runs in each with 10 different as new VZ SV6 & the same with 10 as new BA XR6 that would be pretty on the money.

I remember reading that the VZ were a couple of tenth slower than the 4sp Auto. The ne VE is spose to be on par with the 4sp.

on a different note, is it a good idea mixing fords + holdens together in 1 day? i think it will end up with a brawl cauz the holdens got their asses whooped too hard.

Those cars weigh 150 to 200kgs lighter than us and a better 1st gear ratio. It would be intersting though.

oh well bugger them then. How about some of those magnas that were doing 14's? I remember them cruising through these forums a few times. At least there's some competition there.

had a bloke in a vx commodore pull up in a lane to the left of me, which merges into my lane just across the intersection... I didn't let him in, and had him slamming his brakes by the end of the intersection ^_^ Had him by about a meter
