Kind of strange though they would portray an XR8 bonnet but XR6 wheels? But I guess with a CGI you can show whatever you want!

It's wider and less pronounced. But still a bump that xr6 don't get.

Only if they run different tunes. They won't make a 335 without brembos, that means that there may still be a 315 with out, aka GS

OK ..... IF the XR8 does not have a 'real' bulge AND is relegated to the 315 tune ....... is it wrong that I would be quite happy about that considering an XR8 will not better the FG 5.0 GT?

That's my thinking, the SS (basically a SV6 with the V8) has worked well for Holden, this would place an XR8 into more peoples budget (mine).
I think at least two XR8 models with two different tunes, 315 and 335 is obvious.
Allows them to stagger the models and price points.

Given the general obscurity of the image, its hard to see where the screen meets the bonnet edge.

I too was under the impression of a narrower BA/FG bulge...

But hey, thanks to our good members here!

Why, Holden have made 3 work successfully (strangely the SS is the lowest selling model under SSV and Redline).
I think it's sensible.

So the bulge sounds a lot like the Gt500 bulge...minus the speed holes.

Leaves the question...

the name.

Just keep it as XR8 for both, or have a sub-title...

The good money would be on XR8 and add subtitles after aka RSpec or similar (of course I can't see them using FPV model names though).
I would have also bet on a two model XR6t lineup two, but the chance of an F6 spec engine appears to have been ruled out.

I think for simplicity and efficiency on the line we will see two or three preconfigured XR8 models.

I reckon what was planned and what we will get are 2 different things. Four models between the 2 power plants would be a stock controllers nightmare. XR6T = cheap performance, XR8 = big daddyo

Because Holden have always been very fixated on a large line up of models with in models while Ford has been more conservative with their line up. Yes, FPV, escalated the models within models to excess but at this stage of FoA I would find it hard (not impossible) that they would stick with 1 model and follow up with LE's before the end of time here.

It may sound snobby or whatever but speaking from the heart ..... I cannot replace my GT with an XR8 with the same engine ...... no offence to XR8's

Agreed, but as all the work is well and truly finished on the XR6t engine and both tunes of the Miami, it makes it very cost effective to roll these out and charge more or less for the privilege.
Surely a base XR8 at a similar price point to the XR6t and one or two big daddyo (FPV replacements) would be a smart move?

This will be a very valid point and opinion shared by many, but would you buy a XR8 Boss or S-Spec or some other name?
Also think about all the entry level V8 buyers they could try and claim back from Holden, sadly with only 2 years of a model run return FPV customers might not be high on Fords priority list.. Maybe FPV owners after a second car?

Surely a base XR8 at a similar price point to the XR6t and one or two big daddyo (FPV replacements) would be a smart move?
Not from a product line point of view. More models, more build changes, stock issues etc. if they were going to sell VF commodore numbers then yes they could justify it, but not with what they propose to sell.

..... to the point that they cannot match or go passed the benchmark of the GT-F? (Sorry, keep comparing to GT )

I added more to my post above, agree they won't be able to replace a GT for most buyers.

Valid point, but surely in this day and age, with just in time, plucking engine A over engine B isn't a huge burden if it means being able to have a spread model range and pricing strategy?

The clowns at Holden even take out the centre brake light from a VF SV6 ute to offset the cost and features when stepping up to a SS ute, there must be money in it. (I personally can't see how having two body looms and sailplanes for your utes can work but they do it).

It's more about product marketing and stock control. Ford won't want dealers ordering the wrong stock for their market then crying when they can't move it. GS models were a hard sell in sedan so I think it's safe to say they will only want the better of the 2 options.
