Default gearbox from capri to escort

can anyone tell me if the gearbox from the gt v6 will fit behind a pinto, if not does anyone have a gearbox that would?

Flat out, NO. It has a completely different bolt patten. The standard Mk 2 Escort box is fine if you look after it (keep oil up to it as the rear seals always leak.) The GT Capri box from a 1600 has better ratios and bolts straight up to a pinto, but would require moving the gearstick hole further back. This is the same as a Mk 2 Cortina box, but this one has a different bell-housing and an hydraulic clutch.
