VW Passat TDi Variant is a reasonable wagon around the $40K mark, and is one of the few VWs actually put together in Germany.

Base engine will be 2.3 Petrol...
Diesel will be the highest spec Diesel available...
3rd Engine will be 2.5litre inline 5 Cylinder Turbo...

One can only hope that the Wagon will be coming... It would certainly compliment the range... and possibly even rationalise the product range that Ford Aus sell.

I think (could be NFI) I read it in the paper, about 4-6 weeks ago? The only engine i wouldnt be sure of would be the 2.5.... but the rest seems to make logical sense...

Hmm... good ad, but Ford AU would need to re-do it entirely with Aussie landmarks or it would be percieved as a 'gutless Pommy car'.

I think they should bring the wagon (and hatch) here, it will appeal to people who want a wagon but not a Falcon or Territory

They will bring 2 variants Probably Sedan and hatch, but we can only hope for Wagon I think the wagon & hatch make the most sense as they are different from the usual larger size vehicle. Sedan may be too close in size to Falcon!

Fifth gear tested the new mondeo (due out here later in the year). I thought to myself oh yeah here we go another boring car. I'd seen pictures of it before and didn't think much of it but jeez the new one is pretty damn decent, all the little goodies you get. Check it out

Sadly tho I think GM will win the price race here in Aus with their Korean affiliates....

Families buy on bang for buck and the Korean product is getting scary close these days... Sister inlaw had me PMP recently showing me her brand new Kia something or other but then I drove the thing and had a closer look... shooot it was about 3 years behind if that...

The common ppl just dont get it do they..

For an Entry price for the Mondeo, you would have to look at what Mazda offer as their new Entry model in the '6' range.... I think its now $28,990.....

As to the video, i saw that on the full download of fifth gear... and he certainly gives it the big thumbs up......

In the Uk the Mazda 6 is just around 800pounds cheaper than the new mondeo so im guessing we will be having a $29,990 base model moving up to mid $40g for a large engined titanium x.

Very much looking forward to Ford releasing specs as I will be buying a Turbo Diesel one

Let's just hope they are not built in South Africa and suffer from the poor build quality and quality control issues as the LS Focus.

Mondeo is built in Belgium. Ford have spend something like 400million euros upgrading the plant just for the car

That Belguim plant will have worldwide capacity... No need to source from South Africa...

Just think if Ford can land a Mondeo for RRP under $30k, they are on a winner, no way anyone would buy a budget epica for the $26k RRP they have. Even though Holden probably would have more room to move in pricing..... just noticed Epica base model hasnt been out all that long, yet already has a $2k discount on discountnewcars.com.au.... Maybe they are not selling that well...............

Go figure..
