Talking XFalcon forum up for sale

https://flippa.com/2900672-aussie-ow...uniques-190-mo

LOL - the new owner is trying to sell because

I purchasing this site a year ago. It has been an unfortunate purchase as I was rejected by a percentage of the membership because I am an American. The members are very patriotic.

A group of the members created an alternate website called ozfalcon.com.au. Many became members over there

LOL, yes we are a 'patriotic' bunch, thanks for your time

To tell the truth I never thought about Forums being owned. I wouldn't have thought an American owning it would be an issue though, look at Facebook, started with an American owner. Now very popular.

That forum was started by a group of Aussie's, one decided to sell it and keep the money for himself, an American person bought it, there was a mass exodus due to the previous owner selling and because it was bought by an American with no interest in Aussie cars, just turning a profit

One of the busiest forums in the world 'YellowBullet' was just sold by the original owner to AutoGuide for an alleged $3mil

The original owner still runs the forum and has just clocked up over 100,000 posts - LOL, at any one time there is over 1000 people on there, either as guests or members

There is money in forums, particularly in the advertising attached to them, the busier the forum, the more ads, the more they are worth

He would be selling the forum as it is with its members & possibly its url to the site. It's an already established site.

Not car specific (although it does have a car subforum) but Something Awful has anywhere from 5000-8000 users logged in at any given time, 185,000 users, 151 million posts in total and bans/probates anywhere from 10-30 users per day! How do you find out the value of these forums..?

http://www.communityspark.com/how-mu...-forums-worth/

I just noticed it being a power invisions forum aka ipboard, its a good forum software does need money to keep updating it though. Example yearly fee for updates & they'll do it for you on forum version software upgrades etc

I was offered to purchase the XR6 turbo forum from Chris Freeman 3 years ago he wanted 50K then the site is an absolute joke LOL...

Needless to say even though i financially did support that place for a couple of years it was just a kindergarten full of juveniles and the subject matter was more off topic and facebook page links than wealthy technical info i didn't really see what possible investment i could achieve without cleaning the place up and banning all the riff raff and the old owner could just start up another forum aka Yellowbullet-Turbo Bullet well done Brent Double LOLOL

Bit hard to make money when sponsors are constantly 90+ days in arrears as well, i was privvy to a lot of sensitive information as this was definately going to happen as far as i was concerned, but the rank and file had other ideas and i went from a purchaser to the banned member list ...

Oh and i still have all e-mails and correspondance as well as facebook messages saved for future enjoyment...

forgot to mention the yearly forum update or support for ipboard is optional, if you dont pay just no support.

Good luck if any of you here end up buying it.

It takes a special kind of crazy to start up a forum. The hours you plough into it. The hassle you put up with. I'd never do it……

I've got a lot of admiration for the guys who run AFF. Having to support the forums from a technical perspective is just one aspect.

There is quite a lot of money to be gained. I know of other forums being offered money by investors.
