Storage question. I know E85 is hygroscopic so how long can you store E85 that has been opened. I have to buy it in bulk as we have no bowsers anywhere near. For use in drag racing, we use 40-80 litres a meeting.

And another thing with it being Hygroscopic is a local mechanic has notice an increase in fuel lines rusting out in cars that have use ethanol blends.

No problem with storage so long as it is sealed totally.

thought would show results from a new E85 on the US market, too dear to use on the street but as a race fuel, could be good. this dyno result is from Tony Palo's car, he is one of the owners of Injector Dynamics, im leaning towards the figures being pretty legit as it wasn't done by anyone promoting or selling the fuel. shows a 10% increase over E98, E98 typically shows a 3-5%+ increase over E85

Bought a E85 test tube tester recently to check out the consistency of a few local Eflex servo's. Both came up pretty close one 73 the other 76. When doing the test on these, it only took a few mins for everything to settle. However, when I did a test of some drum E85 I just bought, after 15mins it still looked like this

Does drum E85 have to sit longer than pump with the test tube test? Or have I pretty much got E100?? lol

if it's E98, we usually add a lubricant, something like the VP Racing M2 lube in it, even in the pump United stuff we add a little as it around E90, just to be on the safe side. no issues as of yet *touch wood*

I just took a sample of E85 from United in Patterson Lakes. Let it settle, there is a clear line at 95%.

I had it in my ute and went overseas for 6 weeks, when i got back i was a bit hesitant but opened her up on the private road and had no problems at all.
Sealed containers should last a few months i would say, maybe check with a manufacturer in Australia as per there data sheets.

I discussed this with the E85 supplier from Sucragen (old V8SC supplier) because I wanted to buy a 205 litre drum and store it in the shed. He had absolutely no reservations saying that it would last for ages if you kept it properly sealed.
