Some guys on FordMods made a good point about 20"s Dark Agents

i would be wary to be honest.

adding an extra inch in diameter to the original spec, the whole design of the wheel needs to be "re-engineered" to make it keep its strength

do you think these chinese companies making the cheap copies, would have done this

Going by the 'copies are bad' comments, wouldnt ANY rim not made by Ford suffer the same fate if its made with the same material?

Yep, but somehow they are approved for road use. Don't know how that works.
Even big name brad manufacturers have had problems, I believe I've read a few instances of people with 3-piece 19" ROH Modena's getting buckled.

Thread mining a bit here I know, but I came across a few pics of photochopped EB GT wheels - photoshopped up to 19inch, and damn they look good.

Has there been any developments in the world of 19inch EB GT, or EL GT wheels?

Well I am looking into this again due to me being interested and old Sparky Dave giving me a push. Have done some sums and these are early approx figures. Looks like i would be able to do 4 x 19 x 8 1/2 inch rims in boxes painted gold with centre caps for $1400 plus freight. These would be made by ROH who made the GT rims originally and tested to Australian standards properly. Now the thing is i dont have the money to cover the cost which is a couple of Hundred thousand dollars too do both EB and EL GT rims. For me to proceed i would need to pre sell 100 odd sets to get started. I would be covering the rest of the outlay to get it over the line. Too go any further i would have to get a firm price in writing from ROH and than paid orders from people to make it happen. I realise that this is more than likely not going to happen as getting 100 people to part with $1400 in going to be very difficult. I know there would be alot of EB and EL GT owners who would buy them and we are only talking 100 sets of each. I would just do it myself but its a huge gamble. Lets just see who would be prepared to put up the money in advance and we will see where it leads. I would also need to find out how long it would take from start to finish as they would need to get a genuine rim of each to make sure it was a proper copy unless they still have the original plans to the rims on file. Than it would need to be crash tested or what ever they do than finally do the run of 800 rims and paint them and box them. This could all take a few months. I can see this will end up all going to the toilet but you cant say that i didn't try or that it isn't possible as i am trying and it can happen. It would need to be a combined effort and if you knew people who would buy a set and are prepared to pay up front than add there name too the list. If in the event we got the money together and heaps of people pulled out than all money would be returned to anyone who paid up front. I did a similar thing years ago when we brought a trophy for Craig Lowndes from a group of people on the forum and money was put into my account and that all went smoothly. Would i put $1400 into someone account i didn't know, well the answer is yes i have put $4000 into someones account for simmons wheels for a private sale and deposits on cars. This is a little different but, Lets see where we go from here, Shane

First thing - edit the post with some spaces...... my eyes went funny reading all that.......... :]

Second, does Ford Forums have a trust account or something?

Maybe a neutral ground bank account like that, would be better.
Then the wheels could be an officially endorsed Ford Forums thing or something like that
- ie, along the lines of when car clubs get parts reproduced for members etc.

We could look at something like that but first thing first is too gauge interest. We can sort out the finer details when we have the numbers. I dont think that we will get the numbers and unless i fork out $100,000 myself to just do the EB GT Wheels than i dont think it will ever get off the ground

Next step - maybe ask a Mod for permission, to start a poll thread to gauge interest,
or even start a 19inch GT wheel facebook page, with some photoshopped pics, on various cars, etc.

If people didn't want them champagne gold coloured, they could be custom done in argent silver or full polished - for an extra cost.

I'd do some pic's with a few concepts like that, to get the interest up.

And another thing would be to work out the best way of stretching the wheels out 2 inches.

Could be done by starting the spokes thicker first, then tapering out to the rim, or could be done by increasing the diameter of the center hub area, or by doing a bit of both.

Also maybe gauge the interest of some of the better wheel shops,
like Jarrod, at The Wheel Deal, who is a FF sponsor,
and/or Motorsport Wheels, etc.

Would help to spread the costs maybe?

Mate, $1400 for a set of 19" rims in my view is dirt cheap. I know they are original Ford EB GT rims but I paid that much for my set of five with no tyres and alot of work required on them. In saying that would I be interested... damn straight I would be. The EB GT wheel is the best rim for Ea-ED Falcons bar Simmons FR's in my opinion. Their is bugger wheels available out there of the early E-series and if these where availableI couldnt see why they wouldnt sell.

Count me in.

I'd maybe say $1,400.00 - $1,500 per set, if paid up front in full,
or $1,700.00 - $1,900.00 per set, if it was half now/half later paid.
