Default AU coolant tank.

Hi guys, as I understand the OEM coolant tank with sensor is now obsolete.

I have a few questions, I see you can get aftermarket Dayco branded ones with a sensor, has anyone experienced the quality of these products ?

And you can still buy the OEM ones without the sensor hole, but you need to terminate the plug, if doing so, will that make the dash warning light remain on ?
or is it just a case of leaving the plug there and there is no ill effect ?.

If the sensor plug is unplugged (or not plugged correctly) the dash warning light will just keep flashing, to get rid of it the globe needs to be removed from cluster.

The aftermarket header tanks are fine, they just don't have Ford on them.

Thanks mate, I am trying to clean my original one up but they just don't come up near enough to clean enough for my liking, sure they do improve but I am OCD and want it to be clean as.

Or put a 180 ohmn resistor across the plug in the engine bay.

Bought an ebay one a few years ago, quality was fine.
Getting the old sensor out was the biggest issue I had, (I reused it) but yours may be OK
Makes a huge difference to the under bonnet appearance.

Cheers,

Cheers,
Thank's mate, do you remember what brand it was ?

And how does the old sensor come out and did it need sealing when placing into the new tank ?.

Sorry, don't remember the brand or seller.

The sensor is just a 1/2 turn and pull out, just mine wouldn't come out, ended up cutting the old tank up to get it out. I think the plastic must have deformed from the heat over the years.

The new one I got had a new rubber seal with it, so just fitted my old sensor straight up.
Worked fine, no leaks.

Have fun.

Dayco is a good brand. I had it in my ute.

Just use an adjustable angle grinder key to undo the sensor.

Has anyone ever looked at the OEM Ford one without the sensor as they are still available and then possibly adapting the sensor to it as the provision for it is there ?.

with sensor all cleaned I was keeping it for my next car but since your looking for one
make me an offer and it's yours

And by the way Dayco are good as I've got one in the XR8 no drama's at all 2.5 years still going
