Hi Guys,
I am looking for the location of the engine number on a series 1 Falcon 6cyl. Had a look under the bonnet and searched the Forums but can't seem to find any info. Cheers |

engine number doubles in with the vin number on the plate
u can also find it located on the front of the engine inbetween the belts

I saw some numbers and letters between the belt but they look like Part numbers as they start with WR2A...
|

yes they are part numbers, the engine number is the part of the vin after the 6FPAAA bit, ie JG...whatever the next bit is

Thanks, but already knew that about the vin number. I need to register the car and was looking to see if the engine has been changed at all.
Would I be looking for the JG.....on the engine as well? |

id say so, it's probably on the block near the back of the motor knowing what ford is like...wherever it is, it will be stamped on the block

The engine number is on the block behind the exhaust manifold where transmission bolts on. Its very hard to read because it is printed in dots on a rough cast area, best to clean area and apply baby powder to highlight.

From what I have been told the engine number is near the rear of the engine under the the intake manifold ... but don't quote me on that though.
Mechanic wrote it down for me before the new engine went in the ute ... hee hee Now I can get my blue slip for the engine change so I can take it to the RTA to get changed ... hmmm .... must get that done very soon.

OK ... Tibbo mentioned it in another thread ... it's on a flat section at the rear of the engine on the exhaust side behind the manifold (not the intake manifold side where I thought it was).

I managed to find it - very hard to find Dots on rough surface. Right side (Drivers Side) of Motor near bellhousing. You had to shine a lamp at an angle to see the full number in was last 11 letters and numbers of Vin.
