Default speed sensor for ba 6

hey can any one help me. ive got a ba 6 in a jet boat running standard car computer which i got from a guy in ausie that he has flashed it and taken out security stuff. Ive had it running in the boat and runs great but i get to a point where the computer goes into limp mode. so have rung guy in ausie and he has said that i need to put a speed sensor onto the vss terminal on eec-b07.
so my question do i take power for sensor from battery or do i need to to get the supply from some where else on the computer.
hope some one can help.
cheers steve

According to the workshop manual the vehicle speed can be taken from the output shaft speed sensor in the transmission housing.

PCM pin B7 - Vehicle speed signal VSS
PCM pin B45 - Vehicle Reference Voltage (VREF)
PCM pin B33 - Signal Return (SIGRTN)

Good luck.

Id love to see a barra T in a boat. Straight pipe ftw.

It would shame many a 350.

Your sensor will have 3 wires, 1 wire is for the speed signal from the sensor into the pcm.

The second wire will be power, the third will be return/ground wire.

So from above

B7 is signal from the sensor into the pcm
B45 is the power supply from the pcm to the sensor (could be 5V or 12V not sure use multimeter to test)
B33 is the signal return/ground from sensor to pcm.

Good luck.

ok ive got it to work. I used a 12v proximity sensor hook it to + and - battery and used the signal back into b7 and it comes up with a speed so going to test it on the water.
