Should we drive our future collectibles?

I want to start a discussion that will help people enjoy their classic cars.
Do we really believe our current end of era cars will be worth enough money in our lifetimes that we should leave them in the garage covered up, or will our real return be the enjoyment we get out of them driving while we have them.
I don’t think the modern future classics, will ever see the exclusivity or rarity of the seventies muscle car, as owners are much more aware of their custodial responsibilities in regards to preserving these future classics.

Well back in the day during my teens you didn't even consider any of our Fords back then would double let alone what occured with HO's/followed by Coupe's and today even base models are picking up good coin.
The plastics well who can say ? once again.
I do have a feeling "fuel as we know it" and later "green" more epa regulations may cause some problems/hurdles in the future that didn't effect the chrome eras.
In saying that I have a T3 and a manual Miami Sprint.
I never bought them with the vision considering what they might be worth one day.
I love my Falcons, I love driving, both are not daily's and I couldn't care less to moth ball them/cover them up and use once a year.
I want to enjoy them and I do when possible, I don't get people buying new, covering them up and only have 100 let alone 200k's since their purchase.
You only live once.
Both will most likely go to the kids.

Fwiw after 56 years (feels like a lifetime) many of them spent owning Falcons the only fact i am sure of is when the time comes and partys over i will not say "sure glad i didnt drive that car"

Both of my XR6 Turbos have been turned into drag cars because I like racing.
My Torino SCJ is cruiser because I like to spend time with my friends.
My XU-1 sits in a barn covered in rat poo and dust because it's a Holden.

I used to worry about putting km’s on the clock of my T3 TE50 that I’ve owned for 11 years, but I would rather drive it because I have to, rather than sell it and by another fridge type car. Put it this way, my car is still worth similar money to what I paid 11years and 110,000ks ago. If I had bought a new falcon or Fairmont back then I would probably be out of pocket$40k.
I like hearing stories of people that have owned their GTs and the like for 30-40years and have racked up 3-400,000 miles. That shows real car passion, not just investing.

Drive them and enjoy them,don't park them for somebody else to enjoy,plus you never know when your numbers up.

Definitely drive them, my GTE is my garage queen, I don't bring it out as often as I used too, but when it's out there's a few hundred is on the clock per trip, currently on about 45,000
My GS however is my pseudo daily, she's only a new addition but I've racked up about 7000 is in 6 mths.
The old girl, the hx gets some use too, mostly re odd jobs or to local shops or in the Argos to work when parking is tight,
I drive them as I enjoy the differences, IMO they are no fun just sitting there, n when my son gets all 3 I want him to enjoy them too

Yep drive them you might as well. If they are rarer or hard to get bits for just be more carefull when you park them. Better for them to wear out from use rather than to wear out staying idle.

boys n girls, drive them that's what they are for! one of my mates puts it really well and this is not in any way meant to be offensive or derogatory "why marry a girl and not sleep with her, only to break up later on and someone else marries the girl and sleeps with her regularly?" obviously the language used is a tad more colourful but im sure the message is clear! DRIVE them the future is the future. if when you go to sell a car it sells for more than you paid for it BONUS
