Default 97 festiva engine shake

97 festiva 1.3 auto.

Has a rough change from 1st to 2nd. Been like that forever.

Noticed the front wheel bearing whining.

Took it to mechanic. He phoned later said come see this.

Raised it off the ground with bonnet open.

Started car and selected drive.

The front wheels started driving and the whole engine shook from side to side.

This was at idle??? Any ideas.

Can't feel it whilst driving

The.
