Hi Fadi,

Do you provide instructions for fitting the camera? Would like to give it a go myself - but only if its a plug and play type job at the ICC end.

Also, do you guys still do the DVD players through the main screen for the MK1 G6E's?
About to purchase one and would love that feature in it too.

And seeing your only in Lynbrook I can pick up the items off you as that's not too far from my office!

Cheers mate!

Hi.. just bought one of these kits for my fg mk2 and got a professional installer to fit it. Unfortunately it didn't work and worse, it seemed to have damaged my ICC! The screen's back light works but then nothing else appears on the screen - therefore i can't see the time... temperature... radio station...NOTHING!!!

When the ignition is off the ICC screen's back light remains on so it just drains the car's battery.

The only thing that works is the radio but you can't turn it on or off on the ICC.. it just comes on automatically when you turn the ignition to ACC..but the volume still works.. very strange!!

I've already spend $600 on the camera and the installation and now it's gonna cost me around $500 just to fix the screen unless someone knows of a fix for this!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers

I don't know how clear we have to make it? We state on the web page of our product clearly: THERE ARE SOME INSTANCES WITHIN THE TFT WHICH IF POWER IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE SCREEN DUE TO BATTERY REPLACMENT OR ICC REMOVAL THE SCREEN BECOME INOPERATIVE. THIS ISSUE IS EXPRESSLY NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ASL AUTOMEDIA PTY LTD. we even place a note with the kit advising of this specific for the FG MKII, we do not do this for any other product we supply but these screens are so unreliable we have to make sure we cover ourselves, but as it appears from your message you still do not believe it could be a failure in the screen after power removal from the ICC. We have daily calls from ford dealers (sometimes 10+), customers, mechanics and auto electricians who have removed the battery terminal or jump started there car or disconnected there ICC and the screens fails. You can contact any mainstream dealer and ask if they have seen this issue, you can do a google search and see this is a mainstream issue. When a customer comes to us for a fitment we make them watch while we disconnect the plug from the ICC and reconnect it as we see this issue so often we make sure they know it is nothing we have done. And FYI each one of kits is tested before sending, we use a specific wiring checker that individually checks each wire to ensure there are no shorts or other problems, The screen supplies power to the camera so again it is not like you are taking power from somewhere else and powering the camera. If you replaced your battery this problem would have occurred anyway. From what we are aware there is anywhere from 2-15 week wait for a replacement screen from ford screens as this fault occurs there is such a backlog. The people who you should be contacting and complaining to is Ford, they appear to be doing very little about this issue. Fadi has done nothing more than try to help you also, and for you to suggest our kit caused this issue is just unacceptable. Please return the kit for full refund, we will no longer be corresponding with you over this matter.

Thanks for your response.

Mate, the biggest issue I have with all this is the EXACT disclaimer you mentioned above. In it, you mention that in SOME instances disconnecting the ICC may cause damage to the screen but when I emailed Fadi about this a few days after, he said something completely different! He said this problem occurs all the time and that he has up to 20 calls a day in regards to blank screens.

If you had mentioned this in your disclaimer in the first place that this problem occurs that often, there is no way in hell I would have taken the risk. I would have just bought a reverse camera mirror kit from Super Cheap Auto for $60 and be done with it!

I think you guys should be more open in your disclaimer instead of saying only in SOME instances and then charge another $500 or so to fix the ICC unit when it stuff ups!

Thanks for the refund, but now I'm still going to be out of pocket to get a new ICC system.

Please be more upfront in your disclaimer.

Cheers
Scott

These are Fadi's exact words "We get about 20 calls a day regarding blank screens on fg mkii and territory models " To me, this is much more of an issue than just SOME instances don't you think?

And don't get me wrong, Fadi has been extremely helpful and seems like a fantastic bloke, but that doesn't solve my issue of having to fix my ICC screen now because of the lack of honesty in the disclaimer.

We DID NOT DESIGN OR PRODUCE THESE SCREENS. It is a Sumitomo product (SWS). The failure is not our problem. There are 1000's of cars out there with these screens. How we don't know which ones will fail and which ones will not? We are not going to stop selling this product on the basis that the screen may fail when you disconnect power.

It would fail after you required a battery replacement. Would you blame the battery company if this was the case? You should direct your comments to ford.

We do our best to inform. We can't please everyone!

What is the lack of honesty? In some instances the fault occurs. Yes this is correct, yours happened to be one of the instance the fault occurred. What more do you want us to state? `IF YOU INSTALL THIS PRODUCT YOUR SCREEN WILL FAIL AS YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE POWER TO THE SCREEN? - This would be untrue and incorrect.

No mate, but using the word SOME is not entirely correct. If you guys alone are receiving 20 calls per day then I would suggest using the word MOST or "A LOT". That way it will make things clearer for the potential purchaser.

Like I said, if you had stated that in "most" or "a lot" of instances, the screen can be damaged by removal of the ICC then someone like myself would have not taken the risk.

To me, using the word "SOME" when it occurs a lot more often (20 times per day!) then that is kind of mis leading.

Our wording was entirely appropriate, in some instances the screens do fail.

Ok mate, no point in arguing with you.

But I need to warn others that it is not in SOME instances..it happens a lot..so buy this kit at your own risk!

People can make up their own minds if an issue that is brought up 20 times per day only means SOME instances or not.

But I don't think people will be that dumb and buy a product that in a lot of instances, can cause damage to their perfectly working ICC.

Regards
Scott

We sometimes get `20 calls a day' as we are a repairer and we are known for Ford repairs.

In regards to failures after supply of the `FG725' kit we have had probably 3 screens have issue after disconnecting the ICC. But we need to make our customers aware of the issue, it's called honesty. We told you the truth that the screen was at fault and not the Auto Electrician who installed it. Again I reinforce, this would have occurred anyway with time after a battery replacement, but I understand you will not accept this.

As per your last email to Fadi, please proceed through Consumer Protection and we will leave it at that.

Ok now that you have cleared things up and explained what the "20 calls a day" meant then I understand.

When Fadi said "20 calls per day" I thought he meant 20 calls per day regarding the purchase of the kit and damaging the screen.

If there has been only 3 cases then that is a completely different story.

Thanks for clearing this up.

Cheers
Scott
