Default XE and EL motors

Are the XE and EL blocks the same?
Can I get an XE motor and put an EL head on it?...are they different at all? (exept for the EFI)
Cheers!

I'm fairly confident that they're comprehensively different... main thing being the EL head has a cam in it ;)

XE block has a cam in it...

One is OHV, the other is OHC.

Why not get an EL donk, use the XG ute engine mounts and drop it in.

About the only things that are the same is that they are both inline 6 cylinder engines manufactured by Ford. There is no way you could put an EL head on an XE block.

This thread is 9 years old!!

Yeah those mounts will work, plus you will need the trans, loom and ecu from the doner car.

Depending on the state you are in, you will probably need an engineers cert.
