Default Mondeo ST24

Hey guys,

I cant remember if I have asked this before, but what issues does the ST24 have? I am dead keen to buy one when the ute sells.

When does the timing belt need to be done? Any other general things to look for?

I am in the market for one of these, a e34 535i or a Pug 406; but would rather stay with Ford (although im still 50/50 on the FWD thing).

So yeah, any info would be great and are there many owners on this site?

Hey Polyal!

the ST24 is basically my car (cougar) with a different skin and some other minor stuff. Engine wise they are very strong. The 2.5 Duratec will keep on truckin for a while. In terms of other issues, some of the other ppl who have ST24 might want to contribute to this thread.

hey mate

yeah I am a fan of the cougar and probe; but unfortauntly (depending on how you look at it) I really do need a sedan.

Is the cougar and probe engine the same as the ST24?

Big fan of the ebaich (sp?) cougar aswell.

Peugeot 406 V6 coupe is the sex. Goes like hell and looks gorgeous. I'm sure you could manage with only 2 doors.

Yeah mate I do like them, but, hard to find a manual plus I do need the 4 doors; hard with a baby seat I would imagine.

The one I test drove was manual, pity I could only afford a Fiesta.

Mondeo ST24 are understated but sexual. The engine's a nice little unit, not an earth shatterer but a really smooth unit. A nice exhaust really opens up a creamy V6 raspiness that hints at VW Golf R32-esque noise but not quite as hard edged.

Will keep up with a 2.0 litre Focus happily. Best servied on a set of 17" LR Focus rims for ultimate looks and ride, preferably a set of ST170's for the most appropriate British Super tourer look and it really suits it.

Well specced with power everything, 4 airbags, CD, the lot really.

Timing chain thus it lasts 250,000km. Drive Belts are probably around 120,000km but I'm not sure on that.

Otherwise a nice little car with a big boot and enough room to fit 4. The rar's a little squeezy on leg room for tall people but it is comfortable.

Excellent, thanks for that; much appreciated.

So nothing of note worth looking out for other than a proper service history?
