Default XR5 Exhaust

Hello again,

I would like to also know if anyone has fitted an aftermarket exhaust system to their XR5. They sound very nice from factory inside the car, but I bet they would sound nice from the outside with a different exhaust. They have to be one of the nicest sounding hot hatches around.

I went for a spin in an XR5. How good is the cabin sound from the engine. In terms of small cars it is the best I've ever heard. I wonder how good they sound with an exhaust and how much improvement are they worth.

Yeah, considering they're 5 cylinder turbo it would make a big difference compared to N/A 4 cylinder engine

Hey Seano,

Thanks for responding. How does it sound from the outside? Is it similar to a WRX sound? Is it too loud inside now?

Hi Barra,

To be honest I can't really comment on the sound from outside as I am always the one driving it ;) A few of the EuroFord guys may be able to comment as they have heard it in the flesh. I can say that its not like the "chopper" note of the WRX exhaust though.

Here is a short vid of it on the dyno, but its hard to get a true appreciation of exhaust note with the dyno rollers roaring away... http://www.youtube.com/v/jrRJNXxpBdU

Inside the car it is louder than standard but I don't think its too loud. If you drive the car conservatively it is quiet, but if you give it a bit it is louder and produces some nice pops and bangs on decel

Thumbs up

More and more people are going with the hitech exhaust... Sean really opened up the options for the XR5T crew with allowing his car to be the dev mule for a great cause... Make the best sounding hot hatch... sound better!

Full details and specs available here

Can't wait to see the results for the full hitech system.
