I will get some more homework done and check things like the time it will take from order to delivery and check with a few of the wheels shops if there interested. This is not going to happen over night so patience will be required. I am also waiting for an email back from 2 other manufacturers as well. If we just did the EB GT wheel for starters than we might be able to get away with only needing 60 sets sold to proceed which might be easier than getting 100 sets sold to do both the EB and EL.

May as well spread the word.

Well today was an interesting one with regards to what the industry thinks of E series owners. Most places opinion is that E series owners are mostly low income earners. They also said that people who drive $2000 cars aren't usually kean on spending $2000 on rims and tyres. If they have a show quality car than they can buy Simmons or a set of billets. There is plenty of E series wheels on the market when you consider that the sell 20 sets of AU offset wheels to every 1 set of E series wheels. The other thing is that it takes 20 weeks to make the Die or Tool to make the rims, 4 weeks to test the rim to make sure it passes ADR's and then they have to make the 400 rims and paint and box them which i guess would take 1 month. I am not going to fund this on my own without others taking a gamble as well. Why should i buy 50 sets just so a few people can get what they want when i am taking the risk of getting stuck with them. No one in the wheel industry gives a toss about E series owners anymore. So it looks like this will stay just that A DREAM. Even though i am sure that some would pay up front, i cant see 50 or 60 people doing this to make it a reality. The fact remains that the greatest ever wheel Ford had made the EB GT wheel can be made in 19 inch but probably wont happen

Unfortunately that's the battle we face.

Big brakes, PD superchargers... we're very limited with our old 'bunky' E-series.

Damn all you tight *** E-series owners.......... !!!!!!!!!
Look what the industry thinks of you....

That's not good at all.

Eaturbo, did you get a price to have tooling made up?
If we could get that done, maybe it would be the 'incentive' people need, to see that it's more than a pipe dream.

How many EB GT's were made?
and how many EL GT's?

And there lies a huge reason of why people use, and will continue to use, hub adapters.
Not that there's anything wrong with them (except legally). So long as you use the right nuts for the studs.

Plus, I don't quite buy the 'won't spend the money' bit.

HR Racing Wheels make the EL GT copies, and they FLY off the shelves.
Their next batch is due in 8 weeks I've been told.

Only Pre-au owners would be buying those wheels........ and they sure aren't going on trailers and caravans.

Its attitudes like yours that see's that we E series owners never get any products for our cars. Why dont you encourage people for having a go instead of having a go at them.

I am going to talk to a couple of mates of mine that have a few dollars and see if i can come up with the money in full. Than if the EB wheels take off than the EL GT would follow than the EL FTR'S after that than maybe some further options after that. Maybe some of the EB GT wheels could be done in Silver or in the FPV Dark Agent colour as well as the normal Gold. Maybe also an option of some 9 1/2 inch rear wheels options if they would fit.

Anyone that knows anything about eseries knows the the EBGT rim is not the most favored, it is one of mine though!
Getting an eseries owner to cough up on a wheel that is not the most desired isn't the best move.

The most popular alloy 17 is clearly the EL GT.
16 has to be the FTR and the 15 goes to the turboblade.

So if you were to do something for us E series owners, you'd start by looking at what they want.

I'm all for supporting and encouraging owners of eseries, anyone who knows me also knows that. Especially as I was seriously involved with ESOC.

Not sure if they would have them or wether Ford would have them. Either way they would not be allowed to do it as the mould is Fords and they would have signed a deal that would stop them from doing it.

I want your opinion on this, do you think that the fact that Nobody ever copied the EB GT rims is why they were not as popular as the EL's. Back in the 90's a set of EB GT rims would fetch $2000 a set bare and thats over 15 years ago. The EL's sold really well but they were readily available. There has been a set of new EB GT rims on ebay lately and they want $4000 for them which is crazy,

So much discussion with little resolve.

Sparky_dave / eaturbo - if you had the infrastructure in place to accommodate a project like this, the wheels would sell themselves (IMHO). ie, shopping cart on website. Heck, even collaborating with a wheel shop to sell / market them is a way to move forward instead of pre-ordering? Volumes would probably be bigger too!

As with pretty much anything 'sales' driven, a sample would be required to show the masses to know what they're getting A) for their money and B) to inspect finish and quality of the overall item.

As it was said on another forum, credit card numbers could be held for security (to be processed either by ROH directly or a commercial third party). This also 'cements' orders and prevents people pulling out.

I understand all this mate, Have you ever tried to take on a $100,000 ++ project using your own money as well as work away from home doing 5 night shifts straight plus have twin 3 year old boys and a wife not to mention it flooding everywhere up here. It is a huge job and something i am taking my time to read everyone's posts, listen to there point of view be it positive or negative to make sure i leave no stone unturned. The only reason i considered it was because i had an EB GT and would have liked to put a set of 19's on it. I also have a nice ED XR8 which i would like to put a set of EB GT rims on it but i have been unable to find a set. Anyone can buy 17" EL GT wheels. I want to try as hard as i can to get this off the ground but if nobody wants it to happen than i would be foolish to go ahead with it.

Lets not worry about how people have to pay for them or when they pay for them, lets just worry about which rim and if you would buy them if they were in front of you and they ticked all the boxes. Than i can work out what is acceptable from a customers point of view with regards to payment. Where theres a will there a way, we can always find options for payments which satisfy the public

If no body wanted the wheels, then there be no market for copies. A manufacturer does n't just make a copy with hope they become popular.

A set of genuine EBGT's sold on ebay recently for just over a grand. What people want and what they sell for is not always the same.

From the first post, you have mentioned nothing but EBGT. Unlike the EOI you posted on another forum.

A set of genuine EBGT's sold on ebay recently for just over a grand. What people want and what they sell for is not always the same.

From the first post, you have mentioned nothing but EBGT. Unlike the EOI you posted on another forum.
A few things, The EB GT wheels that sold on Ebay were in need of refurbishing which if you allow for a wheel reroll to correct any buckles and a repaint they would owe you $1600. If you read the first few of my posts i also mention VN Group A as i was working for a HDT dealer and we got heaps of enquiries regarding the VE HDT 19" wheels. Also i thought that seeing there was already a EL GT replica it might reduce the demand for a set of EL 19's. I will make what people want.

With regards to your comment about manufacturers not making wheels that people want, that happens every day. There is heaps of wheels out there that have been made and nobody wants, just like when car manufacturers make cars like the AU falcon that nobody wanted and they are way bigger than any wheel manufacturers.

Also i never had an expression of interest on another forum. This was done by another forum member who is trying to help the chances of getting this of the ground.

I do however appreciate your opinion and feed back as this is all about research at this stage,

Thanks Shane

for the eb i reckon you might be lucky to get 20-30 people that would ACTUALLY cough up the money!
maybe 30-40 for the el wheel.

the gtp copy wheel in e-series offset that was avaliable a while back sold out very quickly and is still in high demand.
that might be an option to look into?

you might be able to contact the copy maker in china or wherever it was and sell them?
they will end up being half the price of wheels made here.
