Hi have had an AU for more than a decade but only recently dropped into the forum to try to work out what to do with the AU because the engine spat the dummy at less than 100kw.
The mechanic is telling me that they can get a "Tickford" engine, so what exactly is that? Is it just an XR or something else? Ive tried hinting through the internet and these forums but cant get anything definitive on what exactly it is that he is intending to use.

At the risk of boring people I will probably have to ask this question in one of the forums, if I can work out where.

Yes Tickford were an English engineering company that performance tuned vehicles, went into a partnership with Ford to combat Holden's performance operation and that partnership was the precursor to FPV and were largely responsible for the introduction of the XR's...
However...
Xr's are (as stated in wiki) an base engine with "minor" modifications and their performance to my mind is a bit ordinary (175kw for the AU Xr6) BUT the article did allude to a "Tickford Series" but there was no info on that other than a couple of base model numbers such as "TS50". I went to the TIckford page of Wiki but that didn't provide any info on the "T series".

So what exactly is a Tickford engine, I don't know and wiki doesn't seem to know either, What is the "Tickford series" I don't know and cant find out.
I have been unable to find any info in this forum either as to what constitutes a "Tickford" engine and what the output would be. So far hours of online searching have been in vane.

G'day Fordsters
Registered my xp sedan after rebuild in 1999. Now its time to do some fixin again. All stock except for xa 250 motor and 5 stud ute gear. Thinking a brake booster and discs up front, aircon and buckets seats, modern retracting type seatbelts and new gauges that work (probably from a toyota). That should make it the daily drive family car so I can look at the xp ute in the back yard! Enjoying trolling through the classic section for inspiration and economical how-to advice.

G'day,
My names Daniel. I'm from Gippsland Victoria
I bought my first car a year ago, EF I GLi Wagon, that I purchased from an old man that was in Immaculate condition with full log book servicing, only problem was some peeling on the passanger side doors. otherwise it was perfect.
Then I smashed it. 9 Year old tyres that have long gone hard are bad in the wet, I found out the hard way.. Wasn't even driving hard, hit a puddle, slid out into a Fence.

Since then I've been driving an ED XR6 Wagon that is perfect, but I've been rebuilding another EF Wagon, because i felt so bad about crashing it.

Planning on making it my daily driver, but hopimg to push 170RWKW with a nice lumpy cam, and all the standard hot up bits.

Evening all, my name's Jme, I hail from Perth Western Australia.

I've always had a soft spot for Ford Modular V8's and finally have an opportunity to live it out. I'm about to start a Pro Tourer build with a 1969 Mercedes Benz 280se I purchased earlier this year. Hi I am new to the form.i drive a zc ford fairlane 1970. Lime green melt 351 windsor 17" streeters hopper stopper big brakes, c4 soon to be AOD auto 8&3/4 diff.
I live south of Perth at the moment but have been in Broome for the last 8 years.

Hi all Just saying g'day.

'Ive got a 95 ef and had one previously but it overheated due to not being setup for towing the caravan.
I now have the same model with an aftermarket heavy duty towbar and an extra cooler radiator for the tranny.Cool as a cucumber.But recently my son borrowed the car and it wasn't going due to a hose slipping off from the tranny radiator.Went to the aid and filled it up with fluid and since, it is not changing to top gear and kind of jerky.
Has anyone got a cheap auto tranny I can pick up around the Sydney area?

G'day all,

My name is John, own a 2011 FG XR6 Styleside ute with canopy in Sunburst (sort of metallic orange). Looks smashing when it's clean and shiny, but it doesn't get to stay that way for long when it's a daily drive. Owned a few Fords over the years, '73 XA GS sedan, '79 ZH Fairlaine with 351 Cleveland, '85 ZG Fairlane, '98 EL Wagon, '00 AUII Fairmont (still have it because it's a still very good) and finally bought the FG XR6 from new. I hope to pick a few brains as I've encountered a few issues with it, but more on that later.

Looking forward to chatting with you all again soon

Hi all' my name is Brian. Between myself and my other half we own a couple of BF GT's ( the 302 KW kind ) a BF XR8 ute and I'm getting to the tail end of building an old XT ute. As you can see I love my fords. This being my first car build I don't have a whole lot of knowledge but I'm slowly picking a little up as I go along.

Hi all, Name Brian, just bought a 2000 AU 11 falcon, just a project to get it back on the road. Needs steering rack boots and a tie rod end, someone tried to get the radio out (6 stacker Ford) without tools, smashed the centre panel. 2 actuators not working, roof lining falling down and a good cut and polish and detail should see it all good. Info on the forum about actuators very handy.

I purchased a fantastic [colour Vanish], G6E Turbo with 19 inch rims in March and I am looking for advice on where to buy snow chains and also information on any problems with having 19 inch rims and contact with any body work. Tyres are 245/35 / 19.

I have just covered 7K since purchase and I am amazed by the power especially when passing other cars, a real safety issue.

I am very happy with the computer that tells you how many litres of fuel you should refill with.
At one Caltex garage in Griffith the pump said I needed 10 more litres than the Ford computer said I needed [I am following that up with the NRMA] also I was averaging 10.1 after filling with it until I filled up with Shell at Goulburn after which I was getting 8.1 litres per 100k. Driving style was the same -sitting on 5 k over the stated limit and roads were similar, ling clear straights. All other fills were within 1 litre of what the computer said [ there was another Caltex in Balranald that said I needed two litres more than the computer said]
I suspect that some are giving you 95 instead of the 98 I was paying for.

Anyway as history goes I have always been interested in cars [we also have a rare auto 242GT Volvo [1979] in pristine condition]. My fist car was a Bug eyed Austin Sprite , replaced by a MGB and had lots of use of dad's 356 B Porsche for many years. Motor bikes and a series of VW's later I had a 144 Volvo, then the 242 GT.

Hi there - I have just purchased a 2003 BA XT falcon sedan 135k. Manufactured Dec 2003, was a display vehicle and was sold to a single owner in June 2004. Since I purchased have installed an external trans cooler. The forums are certainly informative and I look forward to any help should I need it in the future .

Hi there, have been a viewer of this site for some years now but never posted so here is the first on. Currently driving a 06 turbo territory ghia but have owned several fords including a 64 1/2 and a 67 mustang. I have appreciated using this web site as a resource for questions I have had about some of my cars so thanks to all have posted here.

alsone here mine's a 2005 ba falcon and the front passenger arm rest just fell off. 5 or 6 retaining plastic fasteners just sheered off when the wife (gently) pulled the door shut.this arm rest includes elec window switch.How much of the door trim do i need to replace. all correspondence welcome
