Cool Focus owners sharing the love...

In recent times, there has been a bit of an uprising amongst a large number of us. There have been some incidents involving many of us ganging up on others for various reasons and we often get caught up in the heat of the moment. We all know we're all a very very passionate bunch, we are all prone to firing up and flaming people, making harsh judgements and criticising others, or generally just not being super warm and welcoming. Were we not passionate, none of us would be here!!

Whilst I am not a mod (by choice) I do hold a certain position of experience on this forum due to my long serving time as one of the Eurofordclub's founding members, a long time passionate Focus driver and a very long time forums member.

I personally have felt that we need to stop putting certain members down for their opinions or their choice of vehicles/options. I will refrain from making cheap calls or retaliating against anyone who tries to perhaps deliberately incite or start something. This is not an attack on free speech, rather a warning to those who continue to disrespect the free speech of others.

Recently, a new member has received a lot of bad press for mostly doing little more than coming here, sharing his own experience, knowledge, passion and enthusiasm. There are many opinions and a lot of things that have perhaps become the focus (no pun intended) of some heated debate, some claims, some criticism, all the usual car related arguments. I have at times been one of those who has not been entirely welcoming although I have tried to maintain somewhat of a decorum.

I recently also posted a thinly veiled warning to certain users that based upon information available to me at the time was nothing more than that, a warning and not a proven fact. I have not been able to confirm the proof that one user may have been posting under 2 different names (which is expressly forbidden on this forum) however I also have no firm proof to deny this either. I will drop my original warning in the hope that the involved parties may understand that there was a lot of hysteria at the time. I shouldn't have posted the warning without full knowledge of the facts and for that I apologise fully.

With regards to the member who I still believe was posting in a purely inflammatory way and was associated with this warning, if this is so, please be reminded that deliberate anti-social behaviour here is not tolerated and anyone seen to be deliberately disrupting the status quo or pretending to be someone they're not shall be disciplined where necessary - be that by a quick PM to explain the matter further, or if needed, to involve the Moderators. We all know who this thread is generally referring to, may I please ask that nobody here need reply or post anything regarding their names. This thread is designed not to further incite the crap going on but to simply put it to an end and move on.

In the spirit of the Eurofordclub, the forums and of generally decent people (of which I often pretend to be) I say let's put an end to this growing culture of criticism where we've all taken easy shots (me included) at others and let's start afresh.

With our free speech and discussion here comes responsibility from everyone. Those who afford the right to others to post their opinions, those who post information about performance mods, those who post opinions about other cars, whatever it may be. The responsibility is upon all of us to ensure that we don't just post garbage, that we do offer quality so that eveyrone around us can benfit from each of our own unique viewpoints, experience and knowledge. We're here to question each other if we do make a mistake, but together we're all learning and sharing our knowledge for the benefit of the Euroford community and also that of the public who may be considering the best move of their life - buying a Euroford!!!

So let's share the love, continue to grow as a community and enjoy everything that these mighty little cars have to offer. I for one plan to be a Euroford loving Aussie for many many years to come!

My first car was a 71 Capri. I loved that car, stuck a manual box in it, got the the 1600ohv built. Put 13 inch Cheviot Turbo's on & all. looked real nice in Daytona yellow. It was going great when I traded it for a Mitsi ute.
I seemed to be daydreaming of the old days...

I see someone read my post in another thread about abusing people and how it should stop.

I obviously don't spend enough time in this forum area. I had no idea there had been some issues going on between members. The forum environment is hear for all of us to enjoy and learn from. My basic rule of thumb for myself..if I don't have anything interesting or constructive to post then I'm better off keeping it to myself.

I completely agree, some people need to relax a little bit and give other peoples opinions some credit.
