You're probably right.
I heard a day or two after it happened on the radio that the share price had plummeted of the parent company.
So what did they do?

Changed the company name.

In a years time no one will remember that company was linked to the tragedy, and for the all-important shareholders the price will have recovered! Yay!

I feel for the employees and suppliers too. Jobs and clients are hard enough to find in S E Queensland and the calls for Dream World to be permanently closed by the unaffected are a bit over the top.
Thinking greyhounds here.

What's the old saying "Shutting the gate after the horse has bolted"...............
That is law enforcement these days. Let things slide to buggery and just have an advertisement campaign to give the impression that you are active. Then when the **** hits the fan have a "blitz" which will last a short while then things slide back to where they were, repeat cycle...

Dreamworld tragedy: theme park admits Rapids ride pump failed regularly

it emerged the ride had not been physically inspected by government safety officials in years.

police are *focusing their attention on the water pump as a possible cause for Australia’s worst theme park tragedy in decades.

Police have called for a meeting with the water pump’s *manufacturer tomorrow as Queensland’s Workplace Health and Safety officials continue their audit of theme park rides across the state.

The hydraulic pump is understood to have failed twice last Tuesday before the accident

An engineer was seen spending up to half an hour examining the popular water ride in the hours before the accident.

Dreamworld has defended its decision not to shut the ride last Tuesday, stating it was not *infrequent for the pump to fail.

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland confirmed last night that the Thunder River Rapids Ride had not been physically *inspected by any of its officers in years.

Instead, the safety regulator had conducted a “desktop review’’ of the paperwork from the annual inspection of the ride conducted by a private accredited engineer, employed by the theme park.

“WHSQ does not physically inspect rides on a regular basis — this task falls to the registered professional engineer as detailed above,’’ the regulator said in a statement.

“This process is the same as in all Australian states, and in many other countries.
“In 2016, the Thunder River Rapids Ride was inspected by a registered professional engineer.’’

The ride was inspected by Dreamworld’s engineer and *secured its WHSQ registration just a month before the tragedy.
Article is paywalled unfortunately but here is the link:

So exactly what I was saying a page or so back, they submitted the correct paperwork to the regulator, who reads it and gives it the tick of approval.

Worst case scenario, engineer closes down company, opens up another and business as usual again as per construction industry.
