Default AU3 Fairmont wagon

Hi guys

Only just signed up here and was hoping to get some information on the vehicle I just purchased

Ive just purchased a 05/2002 AU3 Fairmont V8 wagon in showroom condition in burgundy, one owner vehicle with about 160000kms full service history from ford from day one with receipts believe it or not totalling $20800 "crazy I know".

When visiting ford to retrieve a centre wheel cap the guy came out an went wow do you realise how rare this vehicle is,i knew it was a bit rare but wasn't sure just how rare,i never thought of asking how many were made, would anyone know how many of these vehicles were made?

Trying to work out how to download some pictures so as soon as I can I shall..

Extremely rare to find a V8 Wagon, with the Fairmont's being the best spec'd v8 wagon you could get (no Ghia wagons). The fact yours is also a series 3 by which stage AU sales had totally fallen off a cliff make it even more uncommon (although the FG X makes the AU S3 look like a top seller!).

After bargaining I ended up paying $3500 which in AU terms I thought was relatively high but considering the service history and condition I felt it was a good buy....

$3500 is very low for a V8 Fairmont wagon in excellent nick.

Nice find.
Keep it under cover otherwise it will end up looking like our old wagon and you don't want that.

I think it was less then 200 built. Au were the last factory v8 wagons with fairmonts typically being more common then any other v8 wagon variant.

Great buy though as v8 wagons just seem to be a great setup

If you actually have the very last one made and it's in showroom condition, you might want to consider keeping it under cover or even parking it up for a weekender and show and shine cruiser and go find yourself a daily hack you don't mind flogging. You have quite a special bit of history there.

I'd be using a rare car like that as a week-end car. Just keep it in the same condition as the last owner did and enjoy it.
I bought a 30,000 kms AU 111 Fairmont Ghia Tickford 6 sedan back in the early 80's and it was without a doubt the best built Falcon I have ever owned - and I've owned most models.
It was the final car selected by the service manager of Southside Ford Qld and he was given an open order so it had thousands of dollars worth of quality extras. (Colour is Organza).

Fantastic purchases, both of you. That's the last desirable Ford wagon, right there. Somehow they decided to stop marketing a full range after AUIII Fairmont wagons. Nice work skatewaverider. Edit: enjoy the runs up to Lanno, Mandurah or Down South chasing waves in it! Did all that with an XW V8 Fairmont wagon in my youth.

Best part is the Fairmont should have rear seat headrests! The most annoying part about the Falcon wagons from AU to BF was the lack of rear headrests!

G'day Skatewaverider and Pedro and all.....Pedro..What a beaut couple of photos of a great looking car...that's a terrific colour too , just couldn't recall it's name off the top of my head until I saw you mentioned it already ( Organza) but not too often seen later on methinks..
Skatewaverider..I was the same..took me ages to figure out how to load photos but Photobucket , once you nut it out is really good..You ought to try that ..Plenty of user friendly vids on You Tube to show you how and a few of the crew here will give you tips better than I can..Happy you found such a rare run of the marque...
Will be great to see a snap or two..
Adamsz Ghia...I agree totally with your comments....Cheers Rod..

That would be due to the Territory.

Looking forward to seeing some pics of this beast, love a good wagon.

Agreed that the pictures one is very nice.

However the Fortes didn't get better with age. AU1 especially.

Here is the Forum thread on how to post pictures ... http://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=20569

If you find that hard to follow, then try this method.
Open a Photobucket account and load pictures into the account as instructed by Photobucket.
I don't know how computer literate you are so please don't take offence at my simplistic instructions.
Once you've loaded pics there you will see four sub-headings under each pic.
Go to the bottom one - IMG - left click on the URL box under it to highlight it in blue - then right click on the blue highlight and a box will appear - right click on Copy.
Go to your post on FF and right click under your text - then left click on Paste. Your pic will appear as a lot of jumbled text. Submit your post and the pic will load onto it.
Cheers.

G'day Skatewaverider..I hope Pedro's great advice helps..I'm sure it will...Just so long as you can load Photobucket and open free account . it'll be easy.. When you're all done there, all you need to do is open Photobucket , click on Upload and it'll want you to choose the photo from one of your locations. When you do they'll appear in your Library in Photo bucket ..Then click on the bottom box on the right hand side and you'll see a 'copied' message appear... Open up or return to AFF again and go to the thread you want to add photo and click CTRL and V key and the photo address stuff will show in red underlined .. Add any text like I'm doing here and click on Submit and it should appear like my photo of my two cars does here.. Hope it works for you...Cheers Rod..
