Washing a new car in a car wash

What do you guys think of washing a new car through a car wash as apposed to washing it yourself. I have heard horrow stories about it scratching the paintwork etc but is that the case for these new car washes?

there are now brushless / no touch car washes, I would assume they may be ok to use, but dont know.

i use the brushless ones if im in a hurry... or if i dont want to get wet

They're good, high pressure water blasts pretty much everywhere, and it comes out pretty clean. Just make sure that you park correctly in there, ive had an occasion when everytime the squirters went past it would rub my mirror... didnt do any damage though.

I like them... and use them more often than cleaning my car at home

Only problem with the brushless washes to think about would be that they must have pretty harsh chemicals in them able to remove dirt etc. without actually wiping it off the car, what kind of damage could these chemicals be doing to your paint?

personally I never use car washes, brush or brushless, if I had to a brushless one would be the preferred choice ans the brush ones do leave sratches.

The only time I was my car in a car wash is when I got one and just use $2 to hose my car down the rest I was by hand.

I only ever visit car lovers to use the high pressure hose. Then I wash the car by hand. How many times have you pulled up behind a 4wd or bike who's just come back from a muddy day out. He uses that brush to scrub his car.

Obviously brushed washes are a no-no even if there isn't anything else in sight.

The brusheless ones are hard on the paintwork too but as long as the car is regularly waxed and polished they aren't too bad.

Don't dare EVER visit a rotating brush car wash ever.

I use Carlovers and pay $1 to hosedown and fill my bucket, then handwash with a real sponge and good soap, then $2 to hose down again. $3 car wash that's enviro friendly.

something i always do when im using the foam brush at the carwash is wash it out with the high preasure gun first......gets rid of as much of the dirt that might be in it as possible...


i'll use the "laserwash" if im feeling lazy...
