Different folks..., but for mine being a bloke it's my role to defend the fairer sex and if I can't handle being called ugly or being insulted, then maybe I should cut back on my lattes.

I get that why they are not advertising Falcon. It's a dead duck to FoA. But it sure does hurt to see such an incredible Aussie designed and built vehicle getting no support at all, especially with the new model.

How much is this costing Holden to do these deals? I saw some add that looked like it should be a Harvey Norman add and thought that Commodore sales aren't where they need to be.

Immediate Delivery?

Try getting an SS, SSV or Redline at the moment. They aren't building or stocking enough.

Same, and I spend more than 10 hours a week on the road. I might have to go to a dealership to confirm that they actually exist.

Not that it really matters, we know it's the last model. The fact no one is buying them just means if you do, you have something a little bit unique.

I have seen 2 utes in Newcastle. And they don't look good at all IMO. Waiting to see a sedan as I have never been a fan of the FG onwards utes.

Agreed, the utes don't look right.
I have seen a G6 and I see a XR6 ecoLPI everyday and the sedans do look good.

Just called my dealer and he has plenty of stock both manuals and autos in some but not all colours

But that's WA. Maybe the mining cash brings more cars over here

Last time I checked Holden weren't doing that great either. They are the 3rd selling manufacturer now and probably wont be long until Hyundai surpass them too. Commodore selling 1700 is poor considering the effort put into it.

That maybe true, but my feeling is probably similar to the guys buying XR8. We got our cars so I don't really care about effort or amount sold

I go past Moorooka ford every day, they haven't put a fgx on the front row once. Yesterday I go past and they have a white fg2 on the front row.

Really?

Really?
did they have a kuga, fiesta, focus, ranger or terri out the front?? you know, the cars that people do actually want to buy.

how many toyota yards have an aurion out the front?

people really need to get over their fixation with falcon. Ford won't die once falcon is gone, and will remain at the pointy end of brands sold in australia.

I agree, but the Ford Brand "sucks" right now in this country.

If Mazda had the Ford lineup they'd still be where they are.

not saying its true for you, but often people form this opinion simply because ford models aren't topping the sales charts.

i don't agree with the view at all.

do people think brands like kia or vw or nissan are 'on the nose' or 'suck' simply because they don't sell x amount every month.

sales volumes are only important if you are manufacturing locally. since ford have already called time on their local operations, and appear to be selling most of what they build (or are building to order), i don't think they are too concerned with sales figures, or tipping money in to wasted advertising campaigns.

But loses "Made in Australia" tag and all government agencies will resort back to buying the cheapest they can find which is a huge buyer group for it.

My point is that Mazda Products sell on Brand Image, so do Fords.

And that includes ONLY imported product.

yep, plenty of the above... But considering joe public probably doesn't even know fgx exists how does he know if he wants to buy it?

how many toyota yards have an aurion out the front?
i bet if you there was a new model aurion then they would be front and centre, and what do you see when you go past a Holden dealer?..

people really need to get over their fixation with falcon. Ford won't die once falcon is gone, and will remain at the pointy end of brands sold in australia.
Yeah, how dare us falcon fans be fixated on falcon...

To me ford pretty much is dead once falcon is gone. Other than mustang, which carries virtually no ford badging, there is no model in fords line up that interests me in the slightest.

I don't even particularly like fgx, but it really gets to me that ford, and/or it's dealers seem to be on a mission to bury it.

This is supposed to be the falcons last hurrah. It deserves better.

Eaxtly. If I'm not mistaken, Holden have said they are actually losing money on each Commode they unload.

My guess is Ford are building to the market, ie more Territory's than Falcons, are at least breaking even and are happy for Falc/Terri sales to tick along at the current rate.

In business, if you spend a million bucks in one area and it makes you 3 million and you see an opportunity to spend that same million bucks in another growing area that has the potential to make 10 million, you spend on that instead.

Ford also need to transform the brand away from that Falcon car co image in order to survive the market.

Combine the above and you can see why Ford are no longer spending advertising money on the Falc and it's the same reason why they didn't go the VF levels of change.

I actually think Ford are looking at the longer term and have a better strategy than Holden.

Since when are January sales an indicator of how the locally made cars are performing?

January sales are always crap as the factory is closed for a month and few deliveries are made, and fleets don't buy. Give it a few months and then we will know for sure how sales are going. One month does not make a pattern.

That was my point. Then again, imported Camrys may well be cheaper.

Current Camry is already as cheap as the imported Corolla sedan from Thailand.

I really cant see Camry sales be affected to much from not being made in Australia anymore. there still people that buy them privately and its bread and butter model is $2000 cheaper then its nearest rival the Mazda 6 with its bread and butter model. big chance the fleets will keep buying Camry after local production stops. you cant buy Australian made if there's no cars being made in Australia after Toyota and Holden shut production here.

Mate, you didn't respond to my reply to your post. If it was a guy in the ad and I said he was ugly, would you have gotten as upset as you did?

Besides, I'm stating an opinion, since when is that not allowed here? You might say "it's not relevant", but it is. You simply missed the point of my original post which was this - although Ford ads do exist as I pointed out, would you rather look at an ugly girl or see no Ford ad at all? I'd prefer the latter. In other words, it's sometimes preferable to have no ads than the rubbish ones they usually put out (the "I can visit all my Facebook friends on one tank of diesel in my Territory" was perhaps the worst they ever made).

i'm still trying to figure out what Falcon Sales have to do with some young lady in an advertisement and her looks. If people were keen on a new falcon, they dont need an ad to tell them they should go and find a dealer with a big oval sign above their yard and look at a new falcon.
