They don't help themselves when all the imports plus the Territory were available at 2.9% finance, yet the Falcon it was only on FG 2.

That's cause they are all buying Rangers

Where is the Ranger Front Page News instead doom and gloom for Falcon

The Ranger 4×4 remains the shining light. Its sales spiked 18.2 per cent last month to 1470, trailing the once-untouchable Toyota HiLux 4×4 by fewer than 180 units.

All of the Blue Oval’s locally made vehicles suffered in January, with the Falcon Ute falling even further, down 31.2 per cent to just 163 units, and the Territory slipping 6.2 per cent to 639.

Fiesta (579, down 39.9 per cent), Focus (1158, down 44.2 per cent) and Kuga (282, down 43.1 per cent)

how long was the factory shut down in Dec/Jan?
That's not to say sales would be 1000+ but I would have thought the shutdown would impact them to a point, may be they'd be selling 500 or so?

There was 7 days production in Jan or about 240 sedans.

The Fiesta, Focus and Kuga still aren’t having the effect on their respective segments like they really should be, this need’s to be looked into.

Mazda are rejigging the BT50 soon. Ford cant afford to be reliant on just Ranger to keep their sales afloat. The need their entire imported range doing better.

It is still behind by over 500 units a month - it will be interesting to see what new Hilux is going to look like later this year. If it doesn't get a new diesel engine it might struggle to maintain market domination.

It has in NZ. Not sure how they are pricing it over there and sales incentives etc but was good to see.

Mondeo?? Why cause there will be a supply issue when it doesn't sell? Or some other excuse.

Really don't get how people don't understand that the medium car segment doesn't grow. Camry sells a bucket load and then the scraps are left for better cars in the market.

Anyway....so 1183 units were sold in Jan. They build about 580 cars for Jan. They sold more then they built in Dec.

About 1660 units for a full month of production would be a ripper of a month.

Be interesting to see what people buy in that segment when the Camry is gone.

its disappointing to see the range where it is.

Without Falcon, Territory and Falcon ute they will struggle to get into the top 10, which is a better reflection of how poorly the company is ran (not necessarily the product).

No, Ford will always be in the top 10. Sales of their local products in January was only 1183, or 22% of their total of 5357. If you take local products out, their sales total would be 4174, or 8th place (down from 5th).

Not long ago I was shouted down for saying this; advertising is important to higher sales.

I have not seen or heard one add for the Falcon. How many others have not? We know about the Falcon because we're fanatics, but 95% of the population are not.

I note the article mentions Oct and Nov 2014 sales figures but nothing for Dec 14. I am interested in the Dec 14 figures because that's when I took delivery of my car (on 24 Dec 14). I know it's a little off topic but has anyone seen the sales December 204 figures for Ford. I suspect 2014 plated FG X falcons would only have been very limited in numbers especially the XR8s builds.

Cheers, Brent

Why would you bother advertising a vehicle that sells 75% to fleets? That means that 75% of potential customers are going to ignore the ad. Even if by some miracle, a Falcon TV ad managed to double private sales, you're talking an extra 150 sales per month, which would bring monthly sales up from say 600 to 750. That's insignificant. Also remember that Falcon is being made at a fixed rate on the production line. You can't increase sales too much, because then production won't be able to keep up with demand.

Our fleet guys are now buying Ranger in lieu of Falcon Ute. With the death knell approaching it's forced the shift. Well actually also in lieu of Hilux. It's taken time but Ranger is getting a nod.

I find it disturbing that a few FG-X are sitting idle in a local yard I've been past many times....I can only assume as they look fabulous people just don't know they exist AND are at pretty darned aggressive pricing to boot.

they dont want big sales from the locals imo, if the sales was to exceed x amount of units they would probably have to put more people on.......... my guess is they want to keep a steady manageable flow with minimum staff until stumps and then close the doors with as little fuss as possible..
