Default parts closing

Another Ford parts place stops service to us. Just found out usfordsp.com is closing out our supply of Cougar and Probe and Explorer parts and taurus .. Not closing down .. but not contining to increase stock of our sort of cars. Talking to them last week.. apparently just not enough need for the amount of stock needed to supply in this country and "even if free" people will not need enough parts to warrant hundreds of thousand in stock- or even when cheaper then the USA or faster many forum users rather promote overseas companies then anyone local and always the same "cause its cheaper" I have supported them and not everything is cheaper then the USA but if you needed it often found price was ok and you had a local backup and warranty and most stuff was next day etc. They have a lot of stock to get rid off.
If we continue to loose the sources like this and our other specialised ford parts suppliers.... and we all tell people to buy overseas not here.. even if cheaper or about the same when delivered, when we break down in the future its is not in our interest to keep the cars. There is always something cheaper somewhere but for European built cars like ours too.. the USA can't away help correctly & people like this known about us rather then the US people .
Pitty as with Holden downscaling .. Ford reducing production.. we are only to be a nation of importers...?? makes it hard to have a special car.... Just make sure you drive a boring mainstream car. Anyway thought this might help other Ford owners.

Default Re: parts closing

It's a real pity they are "closing out" there stock but to be expected as our Cougars reach a more mature age. However as there was only ever a little less than a thousand Cougars ever sold in Australia it is to be expected.

I have bought parts from both them and from overseas sites and they were handy when there was some urgency involved like when my radiator hose burst and spewed coolant all over the place.

However their range was limited and if they didn't have it in stock they would import it anyway which I could do myself and have it delivered to my office in a few days.

FYI all Cougars were made in Ford's Flat Rock Michigan plant. The aussie ones were sent to Ford in Germany where they were upgraded to European/Aussie specs.

When I first bought my Cougar in 2005 I soon learned that any repairs and or services had to be carefully planned in advance so that I could have everything ready to go before I arrived at my mechanics who is now my BFF

Never the less it will be sad to see them go.
