Do you think you're the only tax payer? You're probably contributing two thirds of FA and you want someone's salary justified?

Mate, pop down to your local council office and ask over the counter their salaries and what you get for your tax dollar...Let us know how you go.

The salaries of Electorate Officer positions are determined by the Enterprise Agreement. See here.

I can't copy the table from that link so that it displays nicely, but as of June 2014, someone employed by a Senator as a member of staff may be paid anywhere from $48,017 to $81,209 depending on their skillset/classification. Both Littler and his wife are apparently employed by Muir as staff.
Thanks...fair call on the salary's there...no complaints.

As it happened, common ground was found in the negotiations of 2010 between Labor, 2 rural independents, a Tasmanian independent and 1 Victorian Greens MP such that Labor was able to get the numbers in the Lower House to form a minority Government. Looking at the numbers of the 2010 election and considering the natural inclinations of Crook, Katter, Windsor & Oakeshott, it could just as easily have been Abbott that formed minority goverment in 2010 and probably would have been if he hadn't made such a hash of the negotiations by telling Windsor that he'd do anything to get power.

The 2010 complete hung-parliament is not really that much different to the 2013 partial hung-parliament if you think about it... negotiation will take place and deals/compromises will be done in order to progress the Government's agenda.
Yes , however of those you quoted most if not all were conservative MPs in previous terms and no doubt campaigned with policies that were conservative in nature .
However , and this is what really urks me , once voted in they abandoned those that voted for them .
Whether or not it was a decision made in the best interests of the country at that time is debatable , but now it's all water under the bridge or if you like money down the drain .
