when welding panel steel, don't do one continuous weld along the panel. stitch it. do an inch-long weld one end, then the same at the other end, then go back to the first end etc etc. minimises heat distortion. also pays to have someone with a bucket of water and a rag handy, put the wet rag on the welds after doing them - for the same reason. And go down a few settings on the welder.

dan, it doesnt need to be engineered, just needs to comply with adr's.

yeah the warpage was ****. we should of used a tig lol most of it should pop out, if it doesnt my mate (aircraft engineer doovilacy) said he can come and bring his tools and belt out those ripples in no time.

Those ripples wont pop out...A TIG isnt needed either, a MIG wielded properly will make easy work of the whole trailer.

Intresting that VIC doesnt require trailers to be plated.

im in the process of finding another door im so crapped of with myself for the way it come up

with the next one im going to make it a bit stronger at the top

vic does req trailers over 6' x 4' to be plated but i have the plate allready

i blame my self for the way the door come up

also we will be having another build day soon we will let you all know the date when we have it set

As long as the trailer isnt wider than the car, isnt longer than 3 mtrs, isn't heavier than 200kg and not used for business, it doesnt have to be plated or registed. (Home made). All trailers built and sold by trailer fabricators have to be plated regardless.

Looking good!

I dunno, looking up PDF files on the internet and building a trailer from a car sound like 2 different things to me. ;)

The trailer is going to weigh more than 200kg, and will probably be more than 3m long as well, so it'll need to be registered. If you ever take the trailer interstate, it needs to be registered as a seperate trailer anyway.
