It seems to be a wide spread problem, however logging out of the playstation network seemed to fix it for me, however a patch was release yesterday which is meant to fix the problem, it should give you the option to download it when you start up the game next time.

You can still do that in the Australian version, the camera just stays fixed on the rear of the car.

yeah you can definately still pick them up (they just arent as abundant as they were in GTAIII) and then kill 'em to get your money back like in the old days....

ahh okay, yeah haven't run into any hookers at all yet! think i may have seen one on the streets though..

the ho's are sometimes not dressed as though they should be, just remember that.

Also, i walked passed a dude on the street near Romans (EX) taxi rank, and he stopped me, it went to a cut scene, he dribbled some crap about being rich (tho not looking like it) and then pushed a Benjamin Franklin ($100) into my chest...

Keep an eye on your corner map, if you see a tiny blue man, its like a secret mission type thing.

I played this at my sisters place on wednesday, I was supposed to be helping her move... Me being the Tech guy, The first thing to be plugged in was the 360 and 50" plasma. :hihi:

haha. it is a great game. funnny, i've moved house 5 times, and each time the tv stereo etc were set up and plugged in before i bothered with anything else...including the bed...

i had a puzzled look on my face when that happened to me lol, the game is so deep, if you know what i mean??

VERY addictive game. Graphic is slightly below standard for PS3/XBOX360 console... but GTA is GTA.

it is a VERY deep game. i just wish i wasnt so tired with my shift work, so i could play it more. havent picked up the controller in 2 days!! argh.

Well i picked up the above said game and also a PS3 console to play it on.
Graphics as has been said arent the best (still pretty damn good IMO). I can get over the features of the PS3, im so glad i chose it over an Xbox 360

Definate improvement in car handling and crashes. Handbrake isn't so good though.

You just have to know how to use it!

I have it on 360 and PS3, the graphics are much better on the 360, there's actually anti-aliasing, which is a shame. PS3 has let me down big time. Again.

Handbrake works fine in my copy of GTA IV. Maybe your copy is a lemon.

I've yet to spot the differences between the Australian (MA15+) copy and the overseas (R18+) copy.

Its in the sex scenes. In the AU version you cant rotate the camera to the front of the car and see whats going on. Thats it.

where is the best weapon on the 1st island? im getting bored with punching people or finding the bat near the hospital(i think thats where it was.. in an alley)... or getting a police car and getting the shot gun

Just run over a policeman, you'll get a glock pistol. That should be ok for the first 1/4 of the game. It's easy to loose a 1-star wanted level.

EDIT :- if you need more bullets. Just... repeat.

Go to your safe house. Shoot people till the cops come. When the cops come, go to the top of the stairs in your safe house. Any cop that enters the door at the bottom of the stairs in the entrance, blast em. Eventually NOOSE teams will come with sub machine guns and M4's. Keep shooting them as they enter. When your just about dead, go save your game. You'll have no stars after a save game, and all the weapons from the dead cops will still be on the ground.

That is the best way to get good weapons on the first island that I have tried. And you cant get much better than an M4.

GTA4 will play up to 1080p if you disable everything below that on your PS3 display settings. eg, my TV goes to 1080i, but would only play GTA4 at 720p untill i disabled everything up to 1080i. The random 'hidden' weapons are unlocked in stages depending on how far you are through the story, i.e you wont find any rocket launchers untill you have progressed through the story far enough to be able to buy them from the gun shops. Even then they aren't really common, I'm at 100% and only know of one place to find a rocket launcher is at the bottom of the 3rd (the big one on the left) island. Its in an alcove on the edge of the water just below (on the map) the heletours place. You can see it from a boat but the only way to get it is with a helecopter. I'd post a pic but i'm drunk.
If your at the start of the game the best way to get the M4 is from the police at the airport. (shoot them right in the head and they'll drop it

)

Your viewing it at 1080i, but its just stretching it from 720p anyway.

I have a full HD tv that will support 1080i, but that said i never really set up the console, just plugged it in and went for gold. Ill play with the setting tonight, thanks for the info

you NEED a HDMI cable to see it in all its glory... you only get 478i or what ever it is with the standard yellow AV cable

its 100% better graphically with the HDMI cable (and price of cable means nothing as many reviews.. and tests have shown .. especially over the short distance from PS3 to TV if they are next to eachother)
