I loved every bit of it. I had a smile on my face for the entirety of the program and was pleased that the format, sounds, even the fonts hadn't changed a bit.

Plenty of laugh out loud moments too. Music was great, Molly got a stir from Dicki knee - red faces was just right, a couple of good acts with an absolute shocker mixed in (as per the norm).

I don't remember enjoying 2.5 hours worth of tele as much as I did last night. I've missed it and hohpe it returns on a more regular basis.

I think if they were to bring it back full time, the novelty would wear off pretty quickly.

Strangely enough, I agree with you. I couldn't wipe the grin off my face from the opening theme, to the closing credits. Plucka Duck was the highlight for me.

I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did, and the ratings speak for themselves. Presuming that it rates this well for the next 'special', there has to be cause for Channel 9 to bring the show back. I think the Hey Hey format has been sorely missed.

The question being, If it rates this well for the 2nd one, will Nine be obligated to bring it back on a permanent type basis?... And could it possibly continue to pull the ratings, if it was brought back weekly??
Maybe a monthly 3 hr special so as not to kill the golden goose too quickly???

If ya care to remember,as a weekly show it went with the flow of what was happening in OZ (world) at the time,so it was relevent to that week...

Last night was a thanks to the memories with some new stuff chucked in...

It was great, and if went weekly again I'm sure it would be a suck cess

I quite liked last night, not sure if it would work every week again. I dont usually like variety shows, but Hey Hey seems to work.

Either that or it was me having a childish 1994 Timewarp. Time to bust out the Walkman with Crowded House, the ED Falcon and the 386 Computer.

I'm just glad that John Blackman didn't make any reference to "Wake up Geoff" when Molly was on.

I reckon the guy who imitated Jimmy Barnes in Red faces was real funny.
Loved the whole show in general.

yep, great to see an easy going show... we watched it with our 11yo daughter and she seemed to enjoy it and found different bits funny. It's just light hearted... good laughs and not worried about being politically correct

I was worried that it would be a flop, that they would try too hard, but it was like they stepped out of a time machine.

I only watched the first 45 mins or so but I thought Daryl carried on too much about what was going to appear in the show, the applauses were too long etc. rather than getting on with it.

I used to really enjoy the show years ago, but sort of went off it a bit when Jackie MacDonald left. Her replacements Ding Dong etc weren't nearly as good. Was hoping Jackie would be back. :(

I thought it was awesome and I was surprised how close it was to the shows in the 90s - yet it didn't seem outdated. If I could work out how to stream live next week, i might be tempted to email in as one of those "i am far away, put me on the show" people.

So where is the advertised replay??

Did the Festival of Light / Twilight Zone / Channel 9 pygmy get hold of it and inflicted us with this awful Adam "I am a drippy unit" Sandler movie??

That's what I thought, obviously not just on WIN that they decided to screw around.

Bloody channel 9.

Channel Nine has cancelled the rerun/replay last night and put the 50 dates movie in the slot instead. For some reason, Corrine who is the creator of the facebook page will find out, and let us know. I will state the same thing here. It is disappointing for Channel 9 to do this stupidity but the replay links can be found on the facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/heyheyitssaturday?ref=ts

The only thing I can think of is that it was such a ratings winner that they wanted to put a bit of space between the 1st airing and the 2nd airing to try and cash in on it.

Agreed. I was looking forward to seeing it last night as I missed it on Wednesday.

apparently the rerun was pulled by Daryl on Saturday just before it aired as he was concerned it would take ratings away from the episode this week

Ladies and gentlemen - The second reunion show is due to be aired live tonight at 7.30pm, and the ratings record will be broken tonight as well. 4 million was recorded from the first show last week, as it is confirmed. A lot of people reckons that this show, tonight will tempt the executives from Channel Nine to make a decision to give Hey Hey gang the opportunity to return for good.

Will they be willing to pay for it these days though?
I would think that it would be quite an expensive show to produce with the amount of staff required.

If the show rates through the roof then companies will want to advertise and then they will be able to pay all the people. This is how it was before it was axed

2.1 million according to OzTam. Who's reporting 4 million? AFAIK, Masterchef still holds the record.

I was holding off till Saturday to watch it, but since it was canned I don't think I'll bother.

If they did bring this show back it would be best to keep it as a monthly show or fortnightly - once a week would be too much and after a month or two the audience will stop watching it. There is only so many watching it now because it's all over the news and people are reliving their younger years but redoing the show every week will only bring it undone and so the exec's will let it die with a crapped on reputation.

I hope the same people decide on Hey Hey's fait as TG:AU

Since they commissioned a second season based on the first nights rating and not seconds

I get that, I would like it back on every week.
Its just that it will probably be one of the most, if not the most, expensive show to produce on a weekly basis on Australian TV.

I miss it dearly.. I don't think it will lose it's audience as long as they don't make it a 3 hour epic every week.. 3 hours was great for the reunion, I couldn't get enough but if it's to return, only an hour or two at the most each saturday so it leaves us waiting for the next episode. I think alot of us felt younger than we are while watching it last week, it's a good feeling and that may have contributed to the popularity.. but there is certainly great genuine entertainment value in the show as a long term fixture. I reckon it's still viable on TV in an environment loaded with synthetic American productions. If it ain't crime, its medical. Time for something real and Aussie to fill the void.
