even with the dubious credibility of the article, nowhere does it state there won't be Fords on the grid. it just states that financial support will be pulled.

how much financial support does erebus receive from MBA?

What manufacturers have dealerships under the Penske umbrella of companies?

Exactly. IMHO I suspect that it was an article put out by V8 supercars hoping for Ford to make an announcement as to what they were going to do.
Especially this being the biggest weekend on the calender.

And there are a lot of teams up and down pit lane that don't have funding from Ford or Holden

Lots in many countries, I'll let you count them!

Only one Ford dealership though, in the USA

bjr should remove the holden badge from the grilles of their cars, I couldn't locate any holden signage on them, they are advertising holden for nothing?

yet a Dunlop series car such as dumbells, does get holden signage http://media.speedcafe.com/wp-conten...25-344x220.png
that does mean dollar$

Gee, we are speculating Ford supporting team/s for next year, how about the other side, supporting Dunlop series teams!

It's just a push from a manufacturer telling them to stop living in the 70's and move the COTF into the today.

That's a rather simplistic view of it.

Another angle is the decline in V8SC teams actually running fords over recent year has caused a decline in sales meaning that more ford driving teams would equate to more sales.

As was said out in the pub (and probably here but I'm using my phone to read this and could have missed it) ford pull out of main stream motor sport every 5mins and IMHO it doesn't do anything to help the fan base and as a result there sales generated from motor racing

That said with the stupid new TV coverage for next year it's not like any one will see if fords are there or not :(

I've been away from v8SC for some time, I got interested when other makes were introduced, I was completely boarded with the taxis V the sales reps format .

thinking about it i would like Ford to directly sponsor a team but i understand if they dont. But like the 1980s with DJR a basic parts and allow Fords to be run would keep me happy, not pull out 100%. I think that's what they do now with DJR and Dick shows you dont need factory money but it helps.

My bro just told me he read an article last night where fords graziano responded to this whole thing by saying Ford has not committed either way yet. Goes along with fpr saying there still in talks with ford.
Graziano was quoted as saying FORD WILL NOT MAKE a Descission till AFTER the championship!

Congratulations v8supercars on making yourselves look like morons again.

Thats right he was quoted as saying that BUT how does that help the team not knowing their future until the 11th hour, and if the worse case scenario comes true and Ford pull out where does that leave a team like FPR with financial baking and time to find another major sponsor with the ’15 series getting closer.

It is very bad business on Ford’s behalf to leave a team hanging like that.

Seriously, how many ad's have you seen for Ford Mo. Co. today? I'm not seeing any on the Melbourne coverage.

Plenty of ad's from the other manufactures today.

Ford has no passion for this sport anymore, they see no direct benefit in being associated with it and would rather put their advertising dollars into other sports. They haven't even kept their current 'test drive the other cars' ads running.

Exactly....there of course is lots of downsides but they are the ones stumping up big money.......and in a competition where the v8s release two days before it's biggest race that ford has confirmed they're pulling funding......WHEN THEY CERTAINLY HAVE NOT. explain THAT.....
THATS the POINT here. The way v8 supercars treats ford is disgusting....and what makes anyone think anything is different in this situation. Ford may be waiting on clarification on many things from v8sS......but have to wait.

There's more to these things then throwing money at teams like Holden does and letting taxpayers pay for it! Because that's what's happening when the cars aren't selling.....they're not making any money and have NO future. YET somehow there's millions and millions of dollars left to throw around.

I for one will not blindly diss ford without all the facts!

That's what I believe will happen.

Saw the challenge ads a bit yesterday, and just as many announcing that Ford was behind the Guess Who's Coming campaign, showing the Everest, Mondeo and Mustang.

I can't recall the last Falcon ad I saw, but I'm thinking I honestly haven't seen one since the BF MkII Fairmont Ghia with the 'Euro' campaign. I recall one for FPV a few years ago, but that's about it.

I cant see them racing the mustang here.

IF they are still in V8SC's then it will be the Mondeo for sure...it needs all the help it can get.

Hopefully they will run some sort of campaign in the 12HR Bathurst for the Mustang.

To have coupes and sedans in V8SC's to me sounds like a headache.

Apologies admins if this has already been posted, but I couldn't find it after searching....http://www.news.com.au/sport/motorsp...-1227089195208

TOYOTA Peformance Racing star Chaz … Wait. That doesn’t sound right. Lets start again. Hyundai charger Chaz Mostert … Nup. That doesn’t work either. Beginning any story about Bathurst’s newest champion with anything other than Ford would just not be right.

But sadly we may soon be calling the kid, who shocked Mount Panorama to its core to become a Bathurst King, a Toyota top-gun, a Hyundai hero, or maybe even, and god forbid, a Holden driver.

As revealed by The Daily Telegraph last week, Ford have told high ranking V8 officials that they do not have a future in the sport. They may elect to give Ford Performance Racing — the one and only team they sponsor this year — some help next year with the team committed to racing the new model Falcon, but after that they are out.

Yep they want to kill off the famous Ford v Holden rivalry; the great Australian sporting war.

The war they just happen to be winning despite their apparent lack of interest with Chaz Mostert helping them to back-to-back Bathurst titles on Sunday following Mark Winterbottom’s epic win over Holden last year.

They won’t commit to Ford Performance Racing despite the team proving they are not just one of Australia’s best sporting teams, but also brands. They are fast, followed and right now facing and uncertain future because Ford can’t see the value in taking $2 million a year from a $60 million marketing budget and spending it on … wait for it … cars. No apparently it makes more sense spending it on the Bachelorette and the Voice.

Let’s take the emotion of a car company using cars to sell cars (yeah stupid right?) and look at the pure advertising. Right now Ford need to be as visible as possible. Since announcing they are shutting down their Australian operation at the end of 2016 and axing the Falcon, people think the company is in decline. Some people even think that Ford will not exist in Australia soon. The company needs to be as visible as possible so what can FPR do? Well how about the 3.775 million people who sat in their homes watching a 300kph an hour advertising board win Bathurst? The 193,647 that were at Bathurst watching the Ford poster that just also happened to be a Ford, beat Nissan, Holden and Mercedes in what might be the year’s best sporting event.

There is that. And then there are the other 14 rounds of the championship with events like the Clipsal 500, the Gold Coast 600 and the Sydney 500. The ones that hundreds thousands of fans go to and spend $60 to become mobile advertising boards themselves by buying the shirts, hats, and flags. Wait … they pay to advertise your brand? Yep.

They do much more than that. They buy cars too. Sure maybe there won’t be any V8s on the road soon, certainly no Falcons, but these people will still be driving something. Ford, do you still want them to be driving a Ford?

Chaz Mostert’s Bathurst win could not have come at a better time. Surely the win make Ford see what they have got and what they will lose if they go. Wake up Ford. You have been warned ...

if you walked around the camp sites or the outer car park, you would be lucky to see a Ford or holden as it felt like the ratio was 5:1 to imports or other makers. Ford to lift their presence in the market across all segments

The rules prohibit a manufacturer owning a race team so they can't buy out FPR or really afford to let them go unless they want to fund another team and racing entitlements owner. They either maintain sponsorship or get out. Nothing to stop them however sponsoring a car as Ford Racing but they can't actually own the "furniture".

Not wanting to get too far off topic here, but while the Fusion body shape is used in the main game (Sprint Cup Series), a Mustang body shape is what Ford teams use in the secondary (Nationwide) series, as per the following example

While it would be great for Ford to re-commit and use the Mustang, I only hope that if this happens, the cars look a little more like the original than the NASCAR version. Despite the driver, colours and ultimate race result, the above example looks a bit average in the shape department.
