Exactly. This is what the big car makers fail to understand...fuel economy is far more important to people than bulk cubic inches and 0-100 and quarter mile times. Look at the list of top selling cars, the ones that make companies money...not a V8 to be seen.
This is why Ford should have hammered the hell out of advertising the Ecoboost Falcon, and dropped (sorry for this...) the whole V8 program which is just pouring millions into an engine design that has had its day in these fuel conscious and increasingly "green regulated" days.

EcoBoost was never going to work in a cast iron I6 body.
Nothing wrong V8s... as a niche market.

Gees....... just imagine if they had the brains to make an 'ECOLPI Ecoboost'.
How much do they pay all these so called engineers at Broady anyways?
Imagine how many taxi co's would buy?

If you believe that Woolworths and Coles are inflating the price to pay for the current mega discount dockets, does that mean the others are making a decent markup?

Seriously imo we rely on cars too much, im more then happy to ride 1 day on my bike for one week & take the train the next week to make up for the difference in petrol prices. Besides its good fitness going for a bike ride & going by public transport where you can use the crowds as an excuse to pretend you accidentally groped a good looking women, makes life more interesting

And now I've got idiots offering 7 and 8 k for a ute that's worth 10k..... I've spent 1k on it in 3 months!

Maaaate.... I've shown you the solution, ring them tmrw.... Do you know Liquid Injection has the same effect as intercooling on a turbocharged engine?

If you are filling up twice a week, with LPG you will save at least $60.

Keep the car for longer and invest in a JTG system!

Falcon LPi urban consumption rated at 18.2 l/100 , open road 9.4 , hardly amazing economy for latest in liquid injection techology . I definately prefer petrol or diesel...

Are you getting commission on LPG sales or something?

I've got diesel and petrol cars.

I average about 550km a week just to and from work monday - friday, lasts me nearly 2 weeks in the Focus, I fill up around when I've done 800-900km, costs like $70-$75.

Falcon, tuned for BP 98, running on United 100, 600km out of 70L - $105 to fill, so around $100 a week to get to and from work.

Diesel GMC Sierra, 133km out of 1/4 of a tank, which is 90L. I'd like to see what the Chevy Silverados get with their petrol 454ci V8 lol.

Falcon is more comfortable to drive on these rough roads than the Focus but its out of action with a busted heater core.

The Sierra, well I'm not legally allowed to drive until I go full license.

yes more LPG is used but it's cheaper per klm when using lpg compared to petrol, my super pursuit cost around half the dollars for the same klms travelled

I've gone from my EGAS RTV to an FG XR50T.
Pretty much double to fill it and economy isn't much better. Full tank of LPG was $50~ and 98 is around $100. At the end of the day its not a huge problem, we wouldn't be buying these cars if we wanted to save at the bowser.

Rather than convert my XR8 to LPG, I downsized to a Fiesta for my daily commute and couldn't be happier. When fuel's expensive it's cheap to run, when fuel's cheap, it's even cheaper to run. It's also the perfect car for my Monday-Friday activities.
Depending on the price of fuel, a tank is about $55-$60. Depending on the route I take to work, the way I drive it, and the time of year, a tank will get me anywhere between 615-660kms.

I drive my XR8s on the weekend on my own terms without worrying about how much they consume (however I try to top them up when fuel's at the low end of the cycle)

My AU3 5.0 V8 ute has a 82 litre tank so filling up is costly. Driving around town with stop and start traffic can make the ute rather thirsty even when I drive it carefully. On the open road the fuel economy is excellent...Not as economical as alot of cars but it is actually just as good on petrol as my old 4.0 EL Fairmont wagon was.

The same here in Mildura...At the local BP regular unleaded is $1.56 per litre at the moment and apparently it will be staying like that for atleast another month before it changes (Probably jump to around $1.60 per litre but I really hope it doesn't).

Complain about it all you want, but at the end of the day you need fuel. If it bothers you that much, get a smaller car. Economy was the last thing I considered when buying a 4.0L car :/

My wife filled up her Camry Hybrid on the weekend, she told me it had a distance to empty of 1200km! This is suburban driving.

I see a lot of family cars going the hybrid route in the future, understand though that not everyone wants one and it is a compromise. But still, impressive for a Aussie built family car.

I don't care how much fuel cost's. I'm just thankful it's still readily available & I'm not catching a bus with $120 worth of shopping, Bike baskets aren't big enough either! It just went up to $1.60 here in Tas' but that's cheap considering the trouble that refining companies go to in order to get it to a pump near you. Why would you folks whinge about something when there's cheaper alternatives available to you. In 10 years fuel will be $2.60 per litre & we'll have the same debate right here won't we!

LPG is a good choice for many people, especially for large capacity motors. Having recently moved into the city due to work, its good to pay half decent LPG prices compared to where I was in the middle of nowhere. Personally I would rather have a LPG vehicle than diesel, but that's just me. Especially with all that DPF crap nowadays,

I get an easy 500kms out of 32L on 98 from my daily driver. You'll never appreciate fuel consumption til you see the money going up in your bank account. I'm saving over $300 a month on fuel compared to my FG (all city driving).

It cost me $105 to fill the tank of my BA xr8, I only get about 320k a tank but it doesn't worry me, it's simple if you complain about fuel don't buy a v8.
