Yeah Summer/Spring would be the better time to do it and definately while Daylight savings is on.

mid to late next year at least to give the time to organise. If you try to organise for early in the year youll find yourself running around like a madman. aim for september i reckon.

i don't see why we cant organise it for early March, thats 3 months away and plenty of time. I still say daylight savings time is best.

I think if you want daylight savings, its best to hold it mid -early september... before the "car show rush"

daylight savings has nothing to do with this. Doesn't mean jack.

You either do it in late March or shelve it until October.

Considering you're asking people to drive interstate, I say best aim for October school holidays on 2008.
Lots of notice, time to save, plan etc.

3 months for something like this is pushing it.

Cheers

Daylight savings have heaps to do with it. it gives us more daylight hours to plan activities and IMO i'd rather have a BBQ dinner chatting to my fellow Bseries mates whilst its still sunny.

Its also safer to be driving long distances during daylight, daylight savings means more daylight

I personally would prefer a September/october show/meet... and I think Bluehoon is right.. aiming for school holidays is probably the best bet for getting as many people to come as possible...

also makes prices more exspensive, places less likely to give group discounts and again more cops on the road.

IMO October is already packed and I would rather spend the money on a week/end at Bathurst

Yep! Beauty of this is:

1) Qld'ers come down Newell straight into Parkes - minimal holday traffic
2) Vic'ers come up Hume and merge off at Wagga - minimal holiday traffic
3) NSW'ers are destined west which is usually against traffic
4) SA'ers are east which would mean minimal traffic.
5) Parkes isn't a major holiday or tourist spot (within reason), it's hardly like we're going to Gold coast during schoolies or indy.

If numbers are shown now and bookings made the hotel wouldn't be overly expensive. Apart from SA, if people leave around 7am (not NSW) you would be in parkes by 4ish in the arvo which is perfect!

Issue at this stage is the ineterest from QLD'ers, Vic & SA's. If some of them are in, it's on. Otherwise this looks shaky...

For the bathurst bogans, this can be placed the weekend before bathurst. Jeez, doesn't all that fit in nicely?

Cheers

Not to mention stopping in Bendigo to get me out of bed to come
And whats this RBBD I keep hearing about? Sounds like some Gringo joke directed toward the Mehicano.

The RBBD stands for:
Rummed up Bseries Bogans of Dubbo.

It was a shyte stir that started with me and ruger a few pages back. Basically it's a p1ss take at some of the guys wanting to get blind and sleep in tents / cars...
If anything it's a shot at NSW people, from NSW people..

Cheers

I think that March or April would be okay, as long as you have enough time to organise with the Council to get permits.

School holidays would be difficult getting accommodation.

My GF thinks that it would be great if we can make it to Dubbo as well, as apparently the Zoo there is pretty good. I think there will be enough animals on the cruise as it is.

its only a holiday destinationfor people from parkes who've moved and come back to visit family, its a nice town and a nice area, but just not somewhere where you can entertain kids for a week or 2...
plenty of passers through on their way to sunny north coast or gold coast or sunshine coast...

i'm telling you, its the premium spot for a meet though...

I went out to see what kind of accomodation Guardian was talking about, and found one place that should suit everyone. It has self contained Cabins as well as caravan and camping spots, so everyone (except Ben ) will be happy. :P Not too bad pricing too.
Anyway I emailed the bloke just to see what kind of busy seasons we are looking at and informed him that we were a car club and very precious about where our cars are kept, (linked to B series etc.) but would be responsible, etc. : And I got this reply:
Quote:
My busy time is between the 7th and 15th of January (Elvis Festival) and over winter. Any other time you would be fine though Easter is quite
busy as well.

This is a very big park so parking is no problem. I do have a noise
curfew from 9.00pm but as long as people are not loud I'm pretty
flexible.
There are plenty of other places, but this one said 10 Acres so I thought there would be plenty of parking.

i wonder if thats the caravan park thats a block away from me... for those wanting better accommodation I recommend the "Parkes International Comfort Inn", "Coachman Hotel", "Moonraker", "Bushranger Inn", "El Mexicali", the thing about parkes is that no matter where you stay you're 5 blocks (small blocks roughly 150-200m length) from everything... get drunk night before and stumble home... what ever floats your boat really... anyways... I still feel we need to settle on a date so we can organise this right...
