Sounds like the Europeans have started putting the reverse alarm in their new cars too. Cars built for the Japanese Domestic Market have had reverse alarms in their cars for many years. It's an annoying feature when first used but I've gotten used to it in the cars I've driven.
I think it's so that if you put it into reverse.. you know it's still in reverse. It does happen.. I've seen people reverse in a carpark or in a drive-thru and stop and when they've gone to move forward, they've not released it's still in reverse and they've gone hurtling backwards! |

Has anyone been able to have this switched off ? If so , where please.
I have tried a few dealers and 13FORD, all tell me it can't be turned off. |

That's cr@p that they're telling you it can't be done :
When I BOUGHT my Zetec, the dealer told me "yeah, the beep is really annoying, you'll probably want to get it disconnected at the first service". Indeed, at my 1500km service, I asked them to disconnect it and they did it at no charge. That was at City Ford in Sydney. It still does the seatbelt beep, but no more reverse beep.

You guys clearly haven't been in an American car then. They have beeps for everything, doors open, seat belts, lights, basically anything that could turn into a pathetic lawsuit they have to cover. And its not your normal beep, it digs right into your brain.
Anyway, good to hear this is the only "issue".

Thanks Matty, I will give them a call.
Polyal, I can tolerate all the other bells and whistles when it comes to warnings, but having a long narrow driveway, the reversing alarm gets to me lol Thank for the replies. |
