My EL XR6 (JMM Dev 5 upgrade / rebuild) smashes BA XR6's.

I beat 'em off the line, they catch up a little, ...then I hit 3rd and I'm GOOOONE!

Go the mighty SOHC sixes!

Do the B series need the computer updated regulary as my son being in the panel trade drives many types of cars & has mentioned a few times to me that some N/A BA/F's go hard & some hesitate when you push your foot down & are average performers

I have no doubt your all would beat a stock AU/BA if they upgraded to JMM Dev 5 or equivqlent (I understand there is no Dev 5 for BA) It would be different.
What does your EL XR6 do down the quater?

Well :evilsasmo
Open day sounds like what this thread needs...
Au xr6 vs Bf/BA xr6 day !!!! : my money goes on the au's!!! ing_sm
Unopened au's are actually producing very good numbers with small tuning mods.

what about a 15.1 from a stock headered cat back exhausted and underdrived auto ba xr6 (MYLO_XR6)
ill happily compete unopened

surely you can see the potential there.
and jmm's 13.8 second ba xt

14.3 @ 97mph average.

Haven't got pics up yet, but check this link for my beast:

Also have a stock as Mercury Silver BA XR6T, ...but the EL is the attention-grabber!

Oh, I have no doubt the BA/BF has potential.. but its still a few years away yet from reaching the masses. As for the JMM XT, it certainly ran well but, like all other JMM cars.. if its not their car, its not running close to what they are getting. It seems that there is a good 0.5 seconds between JMM cars and JMM customer cars.

Of course, given that OED666 is running an AU motor in his ED and cutting 13.8's as well with what equate to off the shelf basic mods.. I can see a lot of AU's out there that could be doing similar with a bit of time and more importantly.. money.

The BA is certainly capable.. but its never going to overshadow the SOHC cars by much if anything.

I agree with casper jmm cars and his customer cars are two very diffrent storys.

And as for his ba XT well look at his EA falcon sedan doing 13.2 it has more potential then any au or ba/bf ??????

Wrong the only way would be get 2 stock factory cars and run them, thats the only way too see true potential.

powerwise imho the dohc has it all over the sohc. there is a nizpro cammed ba xr6 with 200odd rwkw and 160rwkw easily attainable unopened. yet to see an unopened sohc falcon pull 160rwkw. dyno graphs are rubbish anyway the track is the proof.
what i would love to do is throw a dohc 6 in an ea that would be fun.
the thing that lets the ba down is its weight but mine isnt exactly a full weight car (not as it left the production line anyway) time will tell and ill get it to the track eventually and prove the dohc powaaah! maybe this au vs babf drag day could happen ;) im up for that.

i hope im not rubbing you au guys up the wrong way its all in good fun! we all love fords!

nah, its all good. As you say, dyno is nothing, ET is where it counts. Mine only has about 136rwkw and, as everyone could see, I run mine full weight (less spare) and in full road trip.. no weight dumped at all. I'm not light either.
I also ran the PB on true road tyres. So much so that I've been driving around on them the last few days as I wait for some new rims to arrive.
As for the time.. its not even close to what I think it can do unopened... not yet anyhow.
Either way I expect that, one day, the DOHC I6's will be running so very good numbers but, as I said, given the weight of the BA/BF in true road trim, the times are not going to be a huge gain on the SOHC cars. In the end there will be a few cars that are outstanding in both camps but the majority will be very, very similar.

As an AU owner i am glad you took his money but I think the expectations should be set that a Stock BA auto will kill any stock AU Auto without fairly serios mods.

drag racing traffic light grand prix 0-100kmh etc is just all a function of the cars power to weight modified by the gearing.

In the Auto the BA has lower first and second gears and the XR6 lower diff ratio so the BA is better geared.

The AU is lighter 1550Kg versus 1700kg for the BA.

powerwise at the back wheels an AU will give 105-110 rwkw versus the BA 130-135rwkw.

Do the math 71Kw per ton versus 79kw per ton. BA wins!

To match a stock BA in an AU you need better gearing and 125rwkw odd which is easy enough with say exhaust mods and a 3.45 diff.

The B Series XR6's are just XT's with different interiors and bodykits, mechanically I believe they are the exact same as the XT unless optioned with LSD etc. The BA/BF is also a much heavier beast than the AU.

BA XR6 3.45.1 (open wheeler unless you option lsd)
BA XT 3.23.1

That's the only mechanical difference (imo its a credit to Ford how mechanically good BA I6 is). BA XR6 better suspension & bigger rubber over XT.

Haven't read it all but thought I'd throw in my 2c as I have owned both (well NA BA XR6 anyway). The BA/F are just plain slugs off the line so I would expect an AU I6 to win convincingly to 100kph. Anything after about 140 in my experience the BA/F pull like a train and would leave an AU behind. On road, bugger all in it.

The AU is a slug of the line..the BA must be an overweight slug. Top end is where the 6's go hard.

yeah im not suprised. the I6 can be a monster of a motor sometimes. back in the day my I6 took out the older v8's VT's VR's etc

just cause it looks good on paper doesnt mean it will go quick. Its all tuning and compatible mods. plus those v8's might have been thrashed and not looked after..u just dont know

Sure, we can organise that.. as soon as you remove one of your cams.. just to make it even (you can even choose which cam to remove)

Sorry mate... as far as V8's go the T3 has nothing close the the Boss's. Dont get me wrong, I'd take a T3 over any other Falcon of any model but the Boss's are pulling 11's unopened.. no NA T3 is going to see anything but taillights unfortunatly.

bring the t3 along and ill bring my brothers xy no replacement for displacement eh its only 373 cubes and a 124mph car :P nothing great

the wheezer in the t3 is already pretty far stretched whereas the boss is detuned and making similar power stock.

i agree though every time i see a t3 someone tells me to wipe the drool off my face.

The boss is by far the better engine... now if they could just get a road spec BA/BF V8 to actually "turn"! : The T3 is still the more desirable looking car to me.. always will be.. but I know I'm biased. Shame the boss engines are just so bloody good!

but..but..but... you said we should add weight to the AU's to make it fair.. I was only makeing the other end of it fair too

The cars are what they are, cams, weight, etc. In the end I think the Barra will become an exceptional package (even with the weight) however it will need a few more years development in it.
