I have a Ecoboost on order and when I ordered it, I considered waiting the extra time to get a 2014 model to see what features it would have. So my thinking was, if I waited I may miss the opportunity to put the Ecoboost through its paces. Then if it is not what I thought, I still go the 2014 and back into a six. I was also a 2002 BA owner/lover and love my Fords.

When we did the discovery centre tour in 04/05, they were saying that the BA design was already signed off as the AU1 was released to the public. I don't know if it is true, but this is what they told us.

Of course it was. Approval for future models are given years ahead of time. Sure, I understand that there are milestones, but the overall approval is already given.

Anyway, we are debating semantics. At the end of the day guys, I'm happy to be looking forward to another Falcon next year.

Will get the tech upgrades, the visual wont be as much of a change compared to the change for falcon. Remember in terms design cycle, they are out of sync.

I'm sure it'll be a great car, but by the time it launches VF will have 12 month headstart and the new Mondeo will have already hit the market. Honestly, how will it hold up then?

Field reliability tests on prototypes begin about 12 months before release,
FGII based mules will be out now completing prelim work on power train/HVAC. Normally, evolutionary model approval happens approximately two years before delivery, suggesting that 2014 car was signed off about six months ago and that the +2016 car(?) will be ready for sign off around November 2014, shortly after launch of 2014 car. I'm betting that a 2016 Euro 5 Falcon would be a running change on the 2014 car and not unlike what Ford did with FG in 2010 to comply with Euro 4, meaning a low cost extension. There will be attribute and systems mules out there now...but you won't be able to spot them.

Euro 5 would be a good opportunity for an FH2 you would think.

I'd like to see a seat change with the updated model, with proper rear headrests. And better headrests in the front for that matter. They haven't really changed much if at all since BA.

I would love to see something like the BF. Just the look of them is amazing. The in your face grunt they hold. I'm not a fan of this new day big bulky chunky VE, VF crap. I hope they don't go that way.
That's just me. |

Jeez, just going around in circles, in the end does it really matter when funding was confirmed. Making a mountain out of mole hill.

I'm just hoping Ford give the 2014 Falcon everything it was intended to get, and not start decontenting it to save cash for the shutdown.

I'm hoping we do in fact get a 2014 Falcon. And that Ford don't decide to pull the plug early.

That is also a big concern. Ford would have to hand back that money. However I think Ford will commit to this at least, ending years of history in 2016.

Dont worry guys the Commodore will end up like the Falcon. I spoke with an old work mate who sells Holdens today. He said in 2000 he would sell 15 Commodores a month with the dealership doing up to 50 a month and now the whole dealership would be luck to sell 15 Commodores a month. The other thing is that VF was only a facelift not a whole new car and more like the AU to BA, now when the next commodore is due there will be no Falcon and even less commodore buyers and they have to develop a whole new car. At best the Commodore might be a global car heavily based on a GM America platform. If the dealerships have anything to do with it they want more products that are relevant on todays roads.
