Random thought,
Partially as a result of Ford blocking use of T6 Amorok in North America, VW recently acquired Navistar International truck company and now intends to spend at least $1 billion to revive the IH Scout as a new EV brand, Bronco and Jeep getting some competition….

Pretty accurate to the numbers the local dealer gave me, now the wait for the demos to roll in to have a drive of one.

So the new Ranger V6 uses the VW Amarok engine?

No, that has been confirmed many times,

There is zero VW content in the Amarok (yes that sounds funny, but it’s true).

With prices of used cars up we've discussed moving it on once its fixed and buying something from the new range to replace like for like which is why I considered 4x2 HR XLS without tech pack but including diff lock as thats basically what we have minus the chrome which is neither here nor there.
Im not a fan of the new front look compared to the PX2 which is why I considered a dark colour as it hides it better and another reason to avoid the XLT chrome.

For the record, we've never held on to cars long, I've had over 100 in 28 years of driving, so this isnt anything new.
Yeah I've seen how many cars you've gone through including the stint with the Moped.. you may need a stepping stone till when we get delivery of these in 2023 if you go with new

Probably find a good panel repairer will fit and finish the new roof skin better than original and will certainly have more paint on it

And this is another reason why we've been giving it consideration, with no eta on the repairs I can live with the hail damage in the mean time as the white hides it well enough, Im not going to get decent money for it until its done so wouldn't be ordering a new one until later in the year or early next year so the wait whilst they catch up wouldn't be a problem.

Its not worth the best part of $20k to move up though.

If it was one out, more than likely, but I've been through the hail repair centre they have at the old GMH site in Elizabeth and the pure number of cars filing through the place leaves me thinking it wont get that attention to detail.

If you can make the transition for that sort of Money I think its very much worth it to get into a brand new Ranger.

My Prediction is when these things start filling up dealership floors, the market will get flooded with 3-5 year old twin cabs that have been traded.

you've been around enough to know what that does to prices

Ford aren't price gouging. They have actually reduced dealer margins to keep next Gen Ranger in the ball park. If you look at Toyota Hilux, the Ranger is still good value!

Ive still got a V6 Wildtrak on order but no ETA (even tho I was the first to order one in June 2021). Have lost interest in Rangers since I got my new Ram last week

I think the pricing, when you look at competitors, and what you get on top of the PX3 is pretty fair. I was going to get a MY22 PX3 Wildtrack Bi-Turbo instead of waiting and was looking at $72k D/a... My New Wildtrack V6D w/Premium pack I have a contract for $77250 D/a. $5k more for a much better engine, better equipped, etc... well worth it...

I am being told December ETA now for mine... But they really have no idea....

Don’t agree there. There wasn’t a glut of PKs when the PX came on the market.

A few years ago, PX3 new model wasn’t much more expensive than the out going PX2, so ford would discount the last of them. From what we’re seeing, the price hikes on the next Gen Ranger/Everest are going to make the last of PX3 look like a discount….Older PKs and PXs seem to be appreciating in value as the market tightens with fewer late model Rangers to buy.

I think the winners here will be existing Rangers selling their vehicles at near new price and buying new without trade. Everyone else will just pay more for used Rangers.

Not doubting they're good value for money compared to the opposition but its also not $5k for a wash, vacuum, transfer and rego.
Stamp duty on $47k for a commercial in my neighborhood is $1380, rego for 12 months about $800 and a set of plates for $30, the other $2.5k is for the wash, vac and windows.

to be fair, there never really was an excess of PJ/PK on the roads were there? Ranger sales didn't make a mark on the VFACTS sheets until PX came out

I don’t know what the respective sales numbers were, but there seems to be still a fair few PKs still running around. They we’re only the market for about 5 years whereas the PX has been around for about 9 years

I seem to recall PJ/PK sales were in the low 1000s a month and slowly increasing.
I made mention at the time on here that it wouldnt be long before the Ranger outsold the Falcon and got laughed at.

Lol, they're asking a whisker under $30k for 2012 XLT's with 200+k's here, no canopy. I reckon I'd have no trouble getting what I paid and maybe more with half as many.
If I can get it fixed that is, might put pressure on the insurer to give me cash to the value of repairs as its already been 7 months and theres no light.
Then I can flog it privately to some desperado at break even and drop the insurance money on a new one.

Hmm, wonder what the going rate for 2 doors, a front gaurd, bonnet and roof skin replacement is?

Pretty simple tell insurer to pay you out or you will go to afca.

Walk in buy and xls for chump change. Should get it this quarter too!

Already looked up AFCA this evening, meets all the criteria, pushed back twice, no end date in sight, possible economic loss if I values drop from current while im waiting.

Appears to be black carpet.

On Ford.com.au go to the next Gen ranger section then compare models, lists the XL with vinyl and the XLS and up with carpet.

MN Triton GLX had carpet, MQ Triton GLX had vinyl. I had both models.
We have a fleet of SR dual cab Hiluxes. A 2 year old Hilux of a colleague has chrome trim around the grill etc and fog lights and my 4 month old Hilux same shape has black/grey plastic trim in the same spots and no fog lights but I have the upgraded motor so maybe that is the trade off.
