So im officially done modifying my rc car. So that was round 1. So with testing, r&d, for round 1 the body and chassis were beat up. So now happy with the allround performance, today i received the final part for round 2. Round 2 is ashetics, fix up all the beat up stuff. So new wheels and tyres i did a few days back but they're not beat up yet and were a big handling upgrade. But today it was new bash plates and hardware, new bumpers and a new body shell. So its looking pretty again (comparitive wise, i never liked the stock body style, the new one is stock, but not cracked and scuffed).

Eating my lunch and dog starts to growl very low and goes to the front door.
I open the door and there's a magpie in the rose garden chowing down on a fresh mouse.
I saw said mouse a few days ago when watering and he ran out of the pea hay I'd put down.
That's a new one on me, seen kookas, crows and owls, but never a maggie catch and kill a mouse.
Made me feel good because he won't be sneaking into my house.
Just checked the carcass as he has flown off, eaten out the head, left the body.

…Finding my daily’s harmonic balancer hasn’t spun. That’s $500-odd saved. Looks like the old Mitsu alternator is unwell, so my burning smell is from there - not the damper insulator.

JD - hope the mouse wasn’t poisoned to start with.

Australia's biggest maritime mystery solved after 'unknown sailor' named

Australia's biggest maritime mystery has been solved 80 years after the sinking of the warship HMAS Sydney.

https://www.9news.com.au/national/un...0-years_181121

The Royal Australian Navy announced today that DNA testing has uncovered the identity of the 'Unknown Sailor', the only body recovered from the cruiser after it sunk with all its crew in World War II.

Able Seaman Thomas Welsby Clark, 21, was posted to HMAS Sydney four months before it was destroyed on November 19, 1941.

All 645 crew aboard the Australian warship died.

Three months after HMAS Sydney sank, his body washed ashore in a life raft off Christmas Island. For decades afterwards, it was known as 'the unknown sailor'.

Able Seaman Clark had trained as an accountant in Brisbane, then served in the army before being transferred to HMAS Sydney.

He was buried on Christmas Island but the remains were exhumed in 2006 and samples of bone and dental collected before reinterment at the war cemetery in Geraldton, Western Australia.

Able Seaman Clark was identified as the 'Unknown Sailor' after advances in testing that enabled a trace through the paternal line of a family, known as Y-DNA.

The painstaking research involved experts from the Royal Australian Navy and the Australian Federal Police.

The sinking of HMAS Sydney was the largest loss of life in the RAN, the biggest Allied warship lost with all hands during World War II, and a major blow to Australian morale.

With no survivor testimonies, the cruiser's loss has attracted speculation for decades, with many historians believing she was ambushed by the German vessel.

Just how the heavily-armoured and powerfully gunned Australian vessel was lost to an armed merchant vessel has been the subject of debate over decades.

The official Australian Government inquiry concluded that both ships were travelling at 14 knots when Kormoran, disguised as a Dutch freighter, de-camouflaged, showing her battle flag before opening fire.

In March 2008, the Australian Government announced that the wreckage of both ships had been found, approximately 112 nautical miles off Steep Point, WA.

It’s bittersweet to me. Really good that this fellow’s relatives can now have certainty and possibly any honours more accurately bestowed, but the “unknown” is a part of tradition, like the eternal flame.

Wish we knew the truth about it all, how a bloody light auxiliary cruiser the Kormoran could sink a light battle cruiser like Sydney would under "normal" circumstances had its measure, only got the German Survivors account and their Commander Theodor Detmers,
But no matter what happened I love WW2 naval history, only because of Dad's war service.

PS...I wish they would of left the "unknown sailor" unknown, then all the remaining 624 souls families would have hoped it was their loved one!

This is the second one this year, an unknown soldier from WW1 was identified in August.

https://www.defenceconnect.com.au/ke...een-identified

Neither of these are the 'official' unknown solider though, the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier is within The Australian War Memorial and he remains unknown.

I know it's only a small thing, but not having to wear masks in the office today.

For some reason, I don't mind having to wear masks in retails spaces, or even outdoors when we had to, but having them in the workplace was taxing.

E: And I should add, it's nice to see the whole face of some of the newer employees who have been here less than 2 years!

It was actually quite interesting to see what people really looked like, instead of you having to imagine what they looked like under the mask.

I work outdoors most of the time, I have found wearing a mask is fine up until about 24 degrees. Above that, they are an extremely uncomfortable thing to have on your face for 8 hours.

I work in retail, so we still have to wear a mask inside the shop but not required outside in the nursery. I have been still wearing the mask when speaking with customers, taking it off when I return to my task. With the amount of people through the doors everyday, I'm happy to continue with this for a while.

And yes, not seeing peoples facial expressions can be tough. I think it's nice to be greet a customer with a smile as it breaks the ice a bit, obviously not doable with a mask.

There are a few benefits to a mask though. The customer can't see yawing while they fidget with their phone to show me a pic, or see me grit my teeth when a customer is difficult.....................or the boss for that matter.

It was good to be back in the office with a proper desk, chair and dual monitors.

It was mostly a bludge week though since they took down our dev environments to migrate the servers to a new data centre and the other part was when I was trying to do other things the network was ****ed.

So I got to enjoy a mostly traffic free drive to get to work and do **** all for a week. Now I'm sinking tins

Watching Aussie Cricket Team Captain Tim Paine crying on TV, I love it, I love I love it, boo hoo hoo, I lost my big money ticket, now I'm back to Sheffield Shield, I will have to sell 3 or 4 of my investment mansions, and, give the wife's Rolls Royce back, she'll just have to drive the a Bentley Continental now, boo hoo hoo!

It makes me feel good, watching these people, these very privileged people cry on International TV, I love the "strength of character" they don't show or have, just this weakness to shrivel down to another level, and instead of standing tall like men, they shrivel and shrink and cry, just like babies, boo hoo hoo, I lost my contract!

Good, flip Burgers at Maccas for a living, and don't cry if ya burn ya fingers on the grill, nobody will care, but I will feel good!..lol....

So rightio, my local italian joint did a mash and gravy pizza a while back that i liked. Turns out i was the only one who liked it, so they changed it and it was ****house so they canned the idea.
So, ive been ordering in the interim from them. So i liked gravy, but anyhow, now they've hit the nail on the head. So a bbq meatlovers, but on the base under the toppings is mashed potatoes. Its a 50/50 pizza/potato pie thing, but not bad.
