Exclamation Activity Cr Molendinar Fatality ...

Well i cant find the link but after seeing this first hand before they closed the road i thought i would share...

Two kids on a motorbike , dual carriageway , school traffic 3pm..

17yr was killed instantly after running up the back of a parked Hyundai Getz...

He was found 500m away <<< read that again ! I couldn't see that distance reported being accurate, but he was in multiple pieces ...

His 19yr old pillion passenger was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died around 6pm.

This scene will remain with me for a long time ...

just saw that on the news, pretty sad waste of life.

are you sure about the 500m though? the sheer physics involved there would make it most unlikely.

I just played it back , yep they said 500m ..... physics do say otherwise..

I thought a pedestrian was run down by an out of control car but it was the rider...

I know this is a bit off, but maybe it was the helmet that tumbled 500m (its still a long way though). Is it down hill at all? My old man always referred to mine as a head bucket. My brother in law who was a firey, said they were a great invention, they made it easier to pick up the head.

Yeah, they hate my bikes. A temporary Australian is the other thing my old man calls me (well, on this topic anyway).

Crazy waste of life, and must have been hard for anyone who witnessed it.

I highly doubt 500m is possible, 50m yes but not 500m. The amount of force required to hurl someone would involve speeds not possible in that environment. Sounds to me like the news got their figure wrong. Worst I have heard of so far is a rider 150m away from the road, estimated speed of the crash was 120 km/h.

They clipped a car which sent them into a stationary car so I would think no.

I found a calculator online, to propel an object 500m would require a launch angle of 45 degrees and a launch velocity of 70m/s (252 km/h). To launch an object 50m requires a launch angle of 45 degrees and launch velocity of 22m/s (79 km/h), 79 km/h is more likely in a urban area than 252 km/h.
