Question 1978 Escort 2.0L MKII speaker/s setup

Hi,

I am having to use my weekend car everyday at the moment, and was thinking of putting in some better audio/speakers to help me tackle the traffic a little easier.

Problem is there aren't speakers anywhere but sound seems to be coming out of the dash?

Are the speakers housed in the dash? and if so do I need to install new housing and everything.

Thanks in advance

theres one speaker in the middle of the dash.
just blast some holes in the doors and whack some speakers in there.

If it's a 2 door and there is no holes in the door trims or rear parcel shelf don't put a hole in them. They are really super hard to get without holes in them and I'm sure someone would swap with cash for them.

dont want to drill holes in door trim as might restore in future though has anyone removed speaker from dash, and how much effort was involved as might as well get in there as can get two birds with one stone as heater core needs looking at anyways.

I've got a pair of custom made speaker boxes (rear parcel shelf-mount) for a Mk 2 coupe. Wont be fitting them in my car as I'm tracking it. open to offers.

I got a pice of chipboard flooring cut to fit parcel shelf and carpeted over. This was in a mk1 and with a 25mm spacer i was able to fit the 6x9's without cutting existing parcel shelf and still looking good
