Default Improving power for 1.6 Ambiente

Hi guys. Just picked up a Mk II Ambiente sedan manual, and am now looking at how to get a little more power out of her. Chose the Ambiente purely because of price, and as its a manual, will not have the lag the auto does. Having said that. What aftermarket work can I do to her to give her a little more pep, and improve sound. All thoughts appreciated..

Eventually it will be tinted, and new wheels, but for now, Just looking at what I can do under the bonnet to get a little more power...

Is it the same donk as the Fiesta?

If so, maybe something like this would fit.

Otherwise, the usual exhaust upgrade, even just a sports muffler could be the easiest way to go.

samurai Chris. See you are in Bris. There is some amazingly low prices on 2012 Ambiente manual sedans. Did you get a good deal?

How does it drive? Do you notice the lower power?

Thanks InFocus..

kevino, I just picked up a brand new manual mk II sedan for $16750

I have no problem with the lower power, but in saying that, I am always interested in getting more out of it in the long run.. I think the auto would simply not do. But because this is purely a work driving car, I didn't need the extra cost at this time for a Trend so was happy to sacrifice a little power, knowing that there are ways to get more eventually...

my other problem now is aftermarket cruise control.....

A high flow filter and a catback exhaust might net a few kw at the wheels.

Add high flow cat + 4-1 header and you will probably net a few more, but likely in the top end of the range.

Buy lower spec car with less power to save money. Spend savings on useless power mods and adding features of a slighlty higher model.

Did I miss something here? Just bought a brand new car and a week or so later it is being traded on the higher spec model? For real?

strange language he used, as I thought he bought it cause he said he picked it up and they rarely let you have it without paying.
Better always to buy the higher spec motor if you da anything but peak hour city driving

Yeah, bad choice of words. I did have a car organized, but because of delay with bank, have had a chance to re-assess.. My deal was finance pending. As their finance is actually very poorly worded with the 2.9% as advertised, I decided to finance it myself.. Hence the ability to not continue with original write up...

As for bigger motor, agreed. I was just looking something cheap for work, but am happy that I did some more homework...
