Default BA Facelift And 6 Speed Auto in October?

Got this from Drive.com.au for 2005 upcomming cars

"The Falcon is expected to get another minor facelift in October with a new automatic transmission but Ford won't confirm this as it does not want to slow the already weak sales of the current model."

Also this...

"In August, Holden is expected to update some of its Commodore V8 variants. It is expected that the SS and Monaro will get more power (possibly from the 6.0-litre V8 that is in the new HSV range) but Holden has not confirmed this."

interestring that they mention weak sales - I think that maybe the MKII was not all that we the public may have expected. If this is true, it may explain the sales, however, it's also noted in the market place how stable the BA range is, and as such it remains a good robust seller.

With a market bigger than ever in the retail car sector - I wonder what they have in store this time

Weak sales. Hmmmm, I bet this has *alot* to do with Territory. I personally know 3 Territory owners, and they replaced their Falcon's (and 1 Commodore) for a Terry.

Arn't Ford building to their current capacity anyway? The V8 we get is largely dependant on the V8 that Ford America and Canada supply us with and FPV can trick it up if they want. Now I have read (although I can't remember where) that the 5.4 is on the ropes as the Americans are demanding bigger and better for their F series trucks and that they are looking at a bigger alternative to counter the big Chrysler V8.
Anyway that Shelby GR1 V10 engine will be a nice fit in the front of a falcon so why are we even talking about V8s

Id say the "slow" Mark II sales may have something to do with the Runout Series I sales

wot i dont understand is that why can holden produce a car that has 297kw and 300kw and nothing gets said about power wars. On the other hand ford produces a 270kw T6 which can't get under 13s and the media straight away jumps on the powerwar wagon and splashes it all over the news.

Im cool if they wanna attack for but keep it consistant and do the same to holden, or dont do it at all.

just my 5c worth.

Have a good weekend every1

I think alot of people where expecting the BA 2 to be a bit lighter and with more power.
Not weak dual plate clutch's and different stickers.

Sydney Motor Show is the target, whether that eventuates is anyones guess.. but on the other hand, if they want to hit their following target of SMS 2006 for the next all new model, then surely October this year would be the last useful / practical timeframe for the introduction of the new box? If not, then we won't see it till late 2006 with the new model.

No magic forecasting in any of that!

I'm not too sure the commy rumour is true because my understanding is that they'll make the most of the ls1's until production stops.

In the meantime the ls2 is solely the domain of HSV.

Plus they need something to differentiate the Holden from HSV.

The LS1 production has stopped AFAIK. There is no longer a vehicle in the US that uses it, only the LS6 (Caddy CTS-V)

Then it would depend if they ran off a stockpile of 5000-odd extra to put in Commys to last until the VE, as per Ford with the Windsor...

As long ago as December 2002 I was talking to a guy I know who happens to be an industrial engineer working at Ford Aus, he told me then that there were BA Falcon's being tested with the 6 speed Jag auto, ie the ZF. He said the main consideration was cost, as the auto was absolutely fantastic. I think I made a post on the old ff.com about this some time ago.

I was reading Holden will have to do something about the V8s by the end of the year as the current spec motor doesn't pass next years emissions standards but Holden wouldn't say whether they'd retune the Gen 3 until the next model comes out or just go with the Gen 4 earlier.

I dont exactly put it down to that, i reckon everyone rushed out and bought a new BA (mki ofcourse), and then the MKII has come out and everyone has already got one. (a BA)

I remember reading in MOTOR magazine October 2003, a small article in which they stated that early in 2004, Ford would pitch its ZF 6spd auto. Here we are, 14 months later, and where is it, if i hear a rumor, i ignore it, usually rumors come and go, alla TR10, which we wont go into.

I think that the SS may get the Monaro engine with it's torquier cam and both end up with around 270kw.
