According to the award:

'eminent service to the people and Parliament of Victoria, to public health, to policy and regulatory reform, and to infrastructure development'

But, given that's available in most of the news reports on the subject, I suspect you disagree with that.

And that's ok. You're entitled to your opinion. I just wanted to air mine, too, as it differs (i suspect) to the majority on here. But like most of these subjects, I doubt it's all black or white (or one-sided, if you prefer).

Yesterday actually, what I call Freaky Friday owing to the stream of nutjobs that surface and come through the doors.

Of particular note, taking a customer's purchase to her car and then being bailed up in the carpark, where I was shown the house she was going to buy, the three jackets she bought in Germany at Christmas, and that she gets quite sweaty in winter, which then prompted her to tell me the best deodorant to use. TOO MUCH INFORMATION lady!

I did manage to offload two hideous candle holders that we were sent in error and had discounted to get rid of, apparently, they we "so beautiful"..................sure, whatever you say.

Well done on moving the candlesticks. Reminds of being dragged into shops such as Lush and Dusk - only go in there to buy a specifically nominated present as/when required, never to browse.

I've had my fair share of that over the years, from both sexes.

And so, another Friday, another stream of village idiots...................

This afternoon, a lady bailed me up to ask about the bare rooted roses that I was putting into stock. You know those random "conversations" that go on and on, where you simply listen and nod but don't get a word in? One of those................Did we have this variety, do we have that variety, I planted xyz-rose 15 years ago and can't find them anymore, one of my roses died this summer, show me how to prune them.......................in the end, I offered to leave her to have a look around, que: I'm done listening, to which she said that she didn't smoke, didn't drink, DIDN'T CHASE MEN AROUND, she could afford to buy lots of plants....................ok then....................

Another somewhat eccentric gentleman was in for some bare rooted trees. We picked out what he wanted before asking if I was one of my boss's father! Gee, thanks! I'm closing in on 40, but I didn't think I had weathered too badly for a 37-year-old. But apparently, I look old enough to be my 55-year-old boss's father. He then had the cheek to ask for discount. Usually, it works better when complimenting the salesman instead of insulting them.

Nasty sales people... I felt the need to contact Autopro in regards to a truely negative experience. Below is the email I sent them outlining what took place. I am still waiting for an update..

<--------------begin email------------->

Hi,
on the 15th of June 2024 I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with a very angry salesman at the Kilkenny Autopro store.

The back story is:
I ordered a part, and was told it may not fit. I was happy to take the chance. It in fact did NOT fit, and I wasn't surprised or upset.
About two weeks after trial fitting the part, I managed to track down the correct part second hand. I was unsure if I could return the part I purchased from Autopro as a couple of weeks had passed since the initial order and me collecting it.

I approached a young female staff member and placed both the new boxed item and my second hand item on the counter, then proceeded with the following rhetoric, in a calm, quiet, informative disposition and attitude, as I was trying to be helpful to any future customers who may have this headache in the future.

The following occurred while addressing the female sales team member:

"Hi, for your future reference, I would like to show you the reason the part I ordered did not fit".
The Salesman in question here to my left, was serving a customer and I was oblivious to him until he said to me in a very aggressive way:

"I told you when I ordered the part that it may not fit. If you want to come in here with that attitude, I will throw you out of the shop."
I was stunned and albeit shaken by his threatening demeanour. (This person looks like a bikie) I am a small 62 kilogram skinny male.
I replied to him "What is YOUR problem?, I am not being rude or nasty to this person, I understood the risk when I asked you to order the part and that it may not fit. I am not angry about it not fitting, I am merely offering my experience to save you guys some time in the future.".
I started over with my conversation to the young female team member, prefixing my conversation with "Is this just MY week for p issing people off?"

After explaining and inquiring about the returnabillity of the item, it was shown to the angry man and he said it could not be returned, as it had some anti seize paste on the part. This I knew, and I was NOT trying to return the part then, as I knew it was greasy.

I left the store, came back some hours later that day and I was truly fearful for my safety, and this was confirmed when the angry employee saw me and said something insulting about me to the young female sales assistant, which in turn made her smile.

I was highly insulted and very fearful for my own physical safety upon returning to this store to collect my refund, thus exposing myself to outrageous unprofessional threatening behaviour.
Please feel free to contact me by phone for any additional clarity you may require.
Regards,
One Man.

"Hi One Man,

Sorry to hear you had this experience in one of our stores.

I have escalated the issue through to senior management and HR for review.

Please be advised that we take all comments like this seriously and you may be contacted for further information or clarification as required.

I can't advise of the exact investigation process as I'm not involved at that level, but it certainly will be investigated.

Regards
Warren"

Hmm, tapping fingers on the desk waiting for the reply.

Hmm, tapping fingers on the desk waiting for the reply.
Typical standard reply with the quote of "it will be investigated", I doubt you will get any further replies to your complaint.
Vote with your feet, go elsewhere.
