Or, if you can find a cheap 6x4 trailer and dont mind towing it, buy a rooftop tent, mount it on a frame above the trailer and have the benefit of extra storage and the ability to leave your accommodation setup on a site, unhook the car and whip into the shops etc.
Could put a travel fridge with power supply and fold out solar panel setup in it too.

Easier to handle than setting up a camper trailer.

Could also mount an awning on the side of the frame for shade as having one on the car is a pain in the **** if you need to make a quick trip to grab some supplies etc.
Some of those awnings have side walls for additional privacy/protection from the elements.
