The only people that are going to know the answer to that are yourself or anyone else on here from that area of SA.
As a general rule to find groups of like-minded people to first need to work out what you like.
Then look somewhere like this:

...even volunteering somewhere like the RSPCA or at a local Salvation Army/St Vinnie's
Op Shop can get into conversation with an extended number of people, and most of them need volunteers.
Most churches will have Youth Groups, well they did when I was a young man back when things were black and white and Super was less than 50c/litre in rural SA (I grew up in Whyalla and Mt Gambier).
