Prior to the '90s performance orientated Japanese cars were pretty much non existent. By 2010 the amount of desirable Jap sport models could be counted on one hand as they abandoned performance models for bland appliances and crossover suvs.

Nothing dull about 1990s performance, no driver aids, proper manual trans, smaller tyres. There is a reason why most 1990s hero models are worth more than the complicated junk with a limited lifespan launched over the past ten years.
Agree I like the simplicity and light weightedness of 90s cars. I’m not saying they were all bad, my original point was the WRX in the 90s stood out. I’m just saying most 90s cars looked a bit bland. Yes, some did not.
