Default Re: Look, No Hands: Project Waze onto Your Car’s Screen

I went to try it on my Mustang which has Sync 3.

Downloaded the Waze app okay, but could not get it to appear on the Pony's screen... Only on the iPhone.

Then I realized that it only works with Sync 3 version 3.0 recently released by Ford.

Checked my Sync 3 version and it was only V2.2, updated on Feb 2018.

So I am now in the process of downloading V3.0 and expanding the zip files which are a whopping 2GB, to a USB drive.

Once complete, you need to leave the engine running for up to 30 minutes, while you plug the USB stick in to the SYNC system and wait for it to update, in case the battery goes flat.

(Tried updating to V3.0 via Wi-Fi from the car infotainment system, but would not work, I guess because of slow Internet access and the large files to download.)

I'm going to use a fast USB 3.0 stick, which hopefully will make updating faster than just using a slower USB 2.0 stick.
