But it's probably a good idea to let them know you painted and with what. They care more about your car being roadworthy and you making it more dangerous or breaching noise levels.
I was wondering about fuel economy too, but more from a weight perspective. And does it actually create wind noise?
I've not seen any complaints so far from people using it, they found it wasy easy to clean and prevented pinstripes from going bush.
What the sun does to it over time would be my biggest concern.
If it does start coming off, can you peel it off and start again or does it effectively trash your panels?
