Default TPS sensor

I took my EF falcon into my garage to have a new oxygen sensor, plus a MAP sensor, plus a new TPS were all were fitted
I was told my car was now ready for collection, I picked it up and drove noticing the car initially was idling at an higher rate than normal, however on the open road the auto transmission omitted to change up to 3rd gear being top gear it was revving high and getting warm, I stopped my car in the emergency lane of the freeway and called them I was advised to take it back in
The apprentice was instructed to take out the new TPS and put the old one back in, this he did he road tested it and it was back to normal I was advised the new TPS was faulty

I didn't believe it was faulty since learning that the computer codes had not been erased or the TPS positioned from advice I have received, it appears many mechanics have no computer gear to do a check I would appreciate members commenting on this state of affairs, I called an auto electrician he agreed the fault with my cat intermittent starting when only way if it doesn't start is to flatten the accelerator then she starts this has been going on for so long now I have sent many posts it seems to me the best move would have been to go to an Auto electrician I havent taken the EF in yet would welcome comments
