I discussed this with the authorised bmw repairer in Malaga WA, and they recommended to not waste the effort and money on any paint protection. Normal wash and waxing was the only thing they were doing with all their own vehicles.
The dealer themselves of course highly recommend paint protection... money maker for the dealership
